This week's helpful idea:

It’s useful to remember: when we have a “bad habit,” there’s often some need/value we’re using it to try to satisfy.

It can help to approach change by:

1. noting this positive aspect,

2. recognizing that it’s not the best way to fulfill this need/value, and

3. designing a new behavior

This week's question for you:

Who is one of your favorite living thinkers or public intellectuals who is from a minority or underrepresented racial or ethnic group?

You can read other people's answers or join the ongoing discussion about this question on Twitter or Facebook

Here is the newest Clearer Thinking podcast episode for you:

The science of addiction (with Crystal Dilworth)

Lastly, here's an essay that I recently put up on my website that you may find valuable:

Ten theories for how to achieve true happiness (and useful resources for you to try them out)

Until next week!
