PARISH BULLETIN
The Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

This week at Holy Spirit Parish, we have our sights firmly fixed on the coming season of Lent. The church, in her wisdom, does not wait until Ash Wednesday to present us with the Lenten disciplines; if we look carefully at our liturgy, the prayers and readings over these next weeks will begin to lead us into the desert so that on March 2nd we will find ourselves well prepared for the holy season of fasting, prayer, and alms-giving. This Sunday, Our Lord gives us "The Beatitudes" as one way of framing our annual itinerary of conversion. May the coming season of Lent be a time of emptying out of the earthly rewards which pass away, and a time of expectation for the great rewards which await us in heaven.
33-Day Preparation and Consecration to St. Joseph
Consecrate yourself to St. Joseph - open to anyone and everyone!

March 19 is the Solemnity of St. Joseph and an excellent day to consecrate yourself to Joseph as a spiritual father. Beginning on February 15, those who are interested will begin preparing for consecration using the 33-day preparation guided by the Litany of St. Joseph from the popular text by Fr. Donald Calloway.

This can be done individually or in a small group - please contact Brandon - b.schetgen@dbqarch.org - ASAP if you would like to participate.

Sacred Heart Church Decoration
We are blessed at Holy Spirit Parish with three beautiful, historic church buildings. Our Catholic faith embraces the importance of the beauty of the space in which Mass is celebrated.

If you have a love and a talent for decoration and would like to learn more about the traditions and customs of the sacred liturgical arts while at the same time fulfilling a desperate need of the parish, please contact the office. We primarily need someone to coordinate the decoration of Sacred Heart Church.

Parish YouTube Channel
Please remember that if you are staying home from Mass due to illness or are otherwise looking to enrich your prayer life, make sure to check out our parish YouTube channel. There you can find live-streamed Masses as well as Morning Prayer, Night Prayer, and Adoration.

Pope Francis has directed the Synod of Bishops to spend two years focusing on the nature of synodality itself, that is, of listening to God and to each other; the Holy Father wishes that dioceses around the world participate.

Our Archdiocese will participate in this exercise by asking everyone to complete a survey on the theme of parish vitality. We can all help to answer the question "what does a vibrant parish look like?"
