Employee Spotlight!
Fred Wilson - Public Works Coordinator 
Fred Started with our Public Works team as a temp on our Streets and Grounds Crew in May of 2021, and his diligence and quality work were quickly noticed. Promoted to Public Works Coordinator in September of 2021, Fred has been handling the day-to-day operations in our Public Works office. He ensured that our Public Works team can offer our residents faster and more efficient services from customer service to streamline our processes. 
 
Applications for our summer Farmers Market are now open! This year we are offering FREE entry to Farmers. 

The Fountain Inn Farmers Market is home to the freshest, locally sourced, and sustainable vendors in South Carolina. Home to 40 of the best local vendors in the area, our market welcomes over 20,000 visitors a year!

Our 2022 Farmers Market season will be every Saturday in June - August from 8 am - 12 pm.

Main Street Improvement Grant Program

The City of Fountain Inn Announces Main Street Improvement Grant Program to revitalize the historic downtown!

The mission of Main Street Fountain Inn, a department of the City of Fountain Inn, is to preserve, manage, promote, and enhance the development of Fountain Inn’s historic downtown. The following grants are available to all commercial properties in the Main Street Program area:

Outdoor Expansion and Beautification Grant: The grant provides up to 50% of project costs up to $20,000 in fund reimbursement to commercial properties within the Fountain Inn Main Street Program Area with infrastructure expenses to expand or beautify outdoor space intended for public use.

Façade Improvement Grant: This grant provides up to 50% of project costs up to $10,000 in the fund reimbursement to commercial properties within the Fountain Inn Main Street Program Area to restore or improve to build Facades.

Outdoor Seating and Accessories Grant: This grant provides up to 75% of project costs up to $4,000 in fund reimbursement to commercial properties within the Fountain Inn Main Street Program Area to create vibrant outdoor areas.


New Public Works and Natural Gas Facility

Public Works and Natural Gas facility to be built at 437 Telfair Street. This new facility will allow our teams to continue to provide the best service to our residents.

According to initial plans presented by construction company Reeves and Young, the property will include:

  • 23,000 square feet with flexibility for future expansion
  • A paved road  into the property
  • A gravel overflow employee parking area
  • A service bay area with covered storage at the rear of the building

The facility is expected to break ground in June with construction completed in March 2023.

The City of Fountain In awarded a $25,000 Grant for Litter Crew

The City of Fountain Inn won a $25,000 grant to keep our city clean! PalmettoPride, a nonprofit focused on fighting litter in South Carolina, announced on Feb. 1 it awarded $115,800 out of $475,100 in Litter Crew grants to Upstate local governments.

The grants provide funding of up to $25,000 to municipalities or counties across the state to establish litter crew programs. The City of Fountain Inn was awarded the maximum amount of $25,000!

Superhero 5K

Bring your superspeed and strength and join in at the Fountain Inn Police Department’s 2nd Annual Special Needs Awareness Superhero Run/Walk 5K!

Every participant will receive a cape and mask to ward off the evil villains during the race!
Proceeds from the race benefit The Little White House, a local non-profit organization dedicated to creating a safe and loving place for children on the autism spectrum to be equipped for day-to-day life.

Legendary Blues and R&B artist Mac Arnold is back to host his 16th Annual Cornbread and Collard Greens Blues Festival!

Join us on April 23rd, 2022, from 12 pm - 6 pm at Commerce Park (110 Depot Street, Fountain Inn) for the best music, food, and family fun in the South.

This event will also have a Jeep Jam on Main Street and excellent local vendors at the Spring Market!

Public Works Updates

To make recycling easier for our residents, recycling is collected the same day as your solid waste every other week. This means you only have to roll your carts to the curb one day a week!
