Dear Friends,

DISASTERS EMERGENCY COMMITTEE
UKRAINE HUMANITARIAN APPEAL

The war in Ukraine is a tragedy for the Ukrainian people and for the rest of the world.   People are naturally asking how we can help.  Aid agencies are beginning to ask for cash donations instead of goods as it is easier to buy emergency supplies than it is to ship them.  See https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-60602092.  The Disasters Emergency Appeal have launched a fundraising appeal and the UK government will match fund up to £20m.  I am therefore encouraging everyone who is able to make a donation by clicking HERE.  Let us pray for the people of Ukraine, the refugees, those who are caring for them  and for an end to hostilities.

FAMILY FILM CLUB
Please join us for this month's film. See details below.

THIS SUNDAY AT ST MARTIN'S
Please join us for our Family Service as we celebrate the baptism of William Talboys.  Our visiting organist/pianist is Jacob Costard.

BUNTING FOR THE QUEEN'S PLATINUM JUBILEE
We are expecting many people to visit our churchyard on Sunday 5th June as the church is going to be the main entry point for visitors to Horsley Towers for the East and West Horsley Parish Councils Community Picnic (which includes tours of Horsley Towers and our own Mausoleum).  We would like to line our pathways with Jubilee-themed bunting.  If you are interested in making some bunting please contact Jean Lees: jeanlees116@gmail.com or  0772 757 286.

FOODBANK
Please remember that the Foodbank is relying on our generosity to continue providing food to those in our village in need.  Please do not donate out-of-date items as they cannot be used.
The Foodbank is in need of tinned meat, tinned vegetables, UHT milk semi-skimmed or whole, UHT fruit juice 1 litre,fruit squash, savoury snacks, chocolate spread, pasta sauce in jar, spray deodorant for men and spray deodorant for women.  Thank you so much for your continued support.

LEGACY LEAFLET
We are pleased to share our new Legacy leaflet.  Leaving a legacy to St Martin's is one way of ensuring the future of our church for generations to come.  For details please click HERE

THE FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT
Almighty God,
whose Son Jesus Christ fasted forty days in the wilderness,
and was tempted as we are, yet without sin:
give us grace to discipline ourselves in obedience to your Spirit;
and, as you know our weakness,
so may we know your power to save;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
