USCIS extends Temporary Protected Status to persons in the US from Ukraine

US Immigration has designated Ukrainian nationals as eligible for Temporary Protected Status (“TPS”) for a period of 18 months. TPS may be designated under several grounds, one of which is ongoing armed conflict in the affected country. Persons seeking TPS may obtain work authorization though it usually takes many months to receive after making the application.

Two years ago today, Lexington reported its first COVID-19 case. 

Through the end of the first two years, the city has had 91,474 COVID-19 cases and 564 deaths:

·         March 8, 2020-March 7, 2021: 32,600 cases, 297 deaths

·         March 8, 2021-March 7, 2022: 58,874 cases, 267 deaths
 

The CDC has a new tool to measure community levels of COVID-19 (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/covid-by-county.html), and Fayette County is currently listed as high. This means the CDC recommends:

·         Wearing a mask indoors in public

·         Staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccines

·         Getting tested if you have symptoms

Additional precautions may be needed for people at high risk for severe illness.

If you are not yet vaccinated, or haven’t completed the series including the booster dose, we have the COVID-19 vaccines available by same-day appointment every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday by calling 859-288-2483.

Lextran Wants to Hear from You!

Lextran is hosting a series of public meetings and taking feedback on our Comprehensive Operations Analysis. These studies help transit agencies align resources with demand for transportation. Based on the information that we have so far, a list of potential route and schedule changes have been proposed. These proposals can be accessed www.lextran.com/COA. Please share this information with partners, in newsletters, to listservs, and with those you serve to allow us to understand how these proposals could impact you.
 
We will be hosting four (4) public meetings next week in various areas of the City and would like to invite the community to join us and share their thoughts and opinions on these proposals.
