This depiction of a spiritual journey I saw recently caused me to reflect upon the hills, valleys, mountains, deserts, and fertile fields I've come across on the long and winding road of vocational ministry.  Fortunately, I've not fallen victim to any sea monsters, although if I had, likely it would have been for transportation to someplace where I was resisting God's calling (think Jonah).   Next year will mark a half-century since a Sunday night in June when I came forward to "surrender to preach," as outing one's sense of calling was described in those days.  Even though I'll be retiring at the end of this month, I intend, God willing, to continue in ministry albeit at a slower, less demanding pace.  I'm seeking God for direction.

May I request something of you?  Some of you I haven't seen since the pandemic turned everything upside down.  I'd love to see you in worship this month.  I want to connect with you at least once more before I lay down my duties  here.  I appreciate the opportunity to have served here either as an intentional interim, interim, part-time or full-time pastor since Feb 2003, with the exception of a twenty month stretch in 2005-2006.  Thank you for the love, encouragement, and support shown by so many of you over these years.
Love, Pastor Keith

Soup for the Soul Outreach Luncheon

Did someone say great favor, fellowship, friendship, and, of course, food?  Sounds like another  Soup Patron Luncheon.  The first luncheon event was held in October, 2021 and was a tremendous success.  Soup ministry participants have continuously inquired into the next event.  Well, the date has been set.  The next luncheon will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 for participants of the soup ministry.

The Soup for the Soul Ministry is going strong thanks to your prayers, donations, volunteerism and more. LABC values every opportunity the Lord grants to share our compassion and appreciation for His blessing to serve the community; serving others is the gift that keeps on giving…to those giving and those receiving.

The luncheon blesses attendees with prayerful fellowship that, for many, offers great presence of the Holy Spirit moving throughout an event featuring prayer; compassionate conversation; new relationships; a break from crippling isolation, illness, injury; and, the growing anxieties experienced by our patrons from food insecurity and difficulties in affording the most basic of groceries.

Our mission remains to be a bright, compassionate and sustaining light in the community by serving the continuous needs for God’s presence, ministry, prayer, physical and spiritual nourishment and healing displays of concern and laughter.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet the expanded team including members from the Soup Chefs, Men’s Breakfast, Prep & Distribution, Bakers, Dynamic Donors and, as several participants have described, our loving committed team of Soup Angels.

We work tirelessly to make a difference in participants’ multi-faceted lives knowing that there are multitudes more to be reached.

Please continue to pray for both LABC’s in-Reach and Community Food Missions.  The Circle of Concern continues to grow when we all work collectively, supportively and progressively…guided by prayer for God’s love for us all and blessings..
