Please Join Ho'oikaika Partnership for Child Abuse Prevention Month Special Convening
Aloha,
April is Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Month – and as a leader in Maui County, we need your help to prevent child maltreatment and strengthen our ‘ohana by creating a healthy environment for child development. The first step in any journey of transformation is awareness.
To learn more, we invite you to join the Ho’oikaika Partnership for a special virtual convening on Wednesday April 13, 2022 from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm. The focus of our agenda is the release of our county-wide child and family needs assessment conducted by The Stellar Group. By synthesizing existing data from the last five years, they explored the most prevalent risk and protective factors for Maui County children and families. This report also examines the support services available to prevent child maltreatment and the service gaps that exist.
Our convening also will showcase “A Journey of Healing,” a video our partners produced in partnership with a local family to help reduce the stigma associated with seeking help.
Founded in 2008, our coalition represents more than 60 agencies and individuals working together to strengthen families, prevent child abuse, and ensure that our hukilau (representing Maui County’s safety net of family support services) has no puka’s (holes).
Our goals from our 2021-2024 Strategic Plan are to:
- Create a seamless safety net of services to support children and their caregivers
- Strengthen the prevention and provider workforce
- Educate and advocate for policy, program, and systems changes to prevent child abuse and neglect
- Engage the community in the prevention of child abuse and neglect
- Strengthen the foundation of the Ho’oikaika Partnership
Please RSVP by registering in advance for this meeting.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
Please join us for this timely discussion and to learn more about how we can collectively strengthen the system of supports for children and families. We look forward to seeing you there!
Mahalo,
Deb Marois, Ho'oikaika Partnership Coordinator
