Dear <<First Name>>,

Hi! And Happy World Book Day! Didn't know that was a thing? Me neither. But now I'm happier knowing books have a holiday

Sometimes I have everything together, and other times I think I do - but actually don't. Those are the times I usually write about, so I've been learning to be a little more compassionate about my more human moments. So far being human has been excellent writing material.

One of my favorite family moments was first captured over a span of ten days on social media, way back in 2017. Over the years I've thought about how to turn Spaghettigate into something even more special than my family's original comedic chaos. My sincerest thanks to those of you who have asked me about the Spaghettigate story over the years to encourage me to keep working at it. I'm delighted to announce that story is now complete and is going to be published in a new anthology published by Moms Who Write!

The Order of Us will be released sometime in April 2022, and I'm honored to be included with these other prize-winning writers. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this book will go to The Imagination Library, which also happens to be one of my favorite charities (I've loved Dolly Parton - and her love of books and sass - since I was a kid).

For those of you keeping track (I know I certainly am!), this will be two pieces in two anthologies in six months, so I'm going to groove my little dance of joy over here and be right back.

OK I'm back. I'll let you all know when and how you can buy the book as soon as I find out too. :-)

In the meantime, I would love to invite myself to your book club if you're interested in choosing Sisters! Bonded by Love and Laughter! There's even a handy book club guide which you can find here. Ten years ago I moved into our new house and our neighbors invited me to be a member of their book club. We've read thousands of pages and talked for hundreds of hours (I think that math works?) and it was such a treat for me to share my publishing experience with these supportive book club sisters. While Sisters! is a book of humorous stories, it also piqued my interest in how we can use humor to be more comfortable in talking about serious things. I've been fascinated by the space that humor opens people up to talk about more difficult topics, and finding that connection with friends has been a dream come true.

Another holiday you might not have marked in your calendars is National Siblings Day coming up on April 10th. Your sibling called and wanted me to let you know that you are their favorite, especially if you buy them a present. You can find links to purchasing options for Sisters! on my website! Sales benefit the Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop Foundation, which provides scholarships to writers who are in financial need. Buying books makes me happy. Buying books that do good things sends me over the moon.

Since I'm all starry-eyed, I do want to remind you about my new humor project for 2022. I hope you've all signed up for
The Dharma Direction, a new e-magazine where I'll be writing a monthly humor piece based on the Zodiac signs.  The Dharma Direction has activated my super powers of cosmic comedy, and your horoscope thinks it's a good idea for you to check it out. How will you know if I'm writing about you if you don't go take a look?

And yes, I'm still working on my novel. Hoping I have big news to share with you one day on that front too. In the meantime, as always, thank you for being part of the journey!

Onwards!
Colleen
