March 12: Winter Hike on the frozen Waiparous Creek in the Ghost Valley

Winter isn't over yet and there's still a chance to walk on the frozen Waiparous Creek with Heinz Unger  on Saturday, March 12th at 1pm. The hike begins in the Village of Waiparous, close to the confluence with the Ghost River, and leads upstream along partially open sections of the river over ice bridges and below dramatic high banks and escarpments.  The return trip is on a forest trail, and there'll be cookies, hot chocolate and mulled cider at the Unger's in nearby Benchlands right after the hike.

What is Adventures for Wilderness?

Adventures for Wilderness is AWA's annual program to engage Albertans in wilderness conservation. We believe an Adventure can be anything from climbing a mountain, to walking by the river, to enjoying the beauty of nature in your own backyard (literally YOUR own backyard!)
