CATIE is partnering with THN to deliver a training course or you and your colleagues on HIV Treatment. There is a full course outline.  Registration link!
 
The purpose of the course is to support frontline service providers to talk to their clients about HIV treatment and support them to consider starting, staying on, or resuming treatment.
 
Audience 
This course is for frontline service providers who work with people who are living with HIV. Participants should have a basic understanding of HIV before beginning this course. To learn more about the basics of HIV, you may complete our HIV Basics self-directed course for free: https://catie.ca/en/educatie
 
Course Schedule
Save the date!
HIV Treatment will begin on Monday April 4th, 2022.
HIV Treatment includes three online modules that include a variety of learning activities such as e-learning units, readings, discussion board assignments, videos and webinars. You can work through each weekly online module at your own pace. Each module takes up to 1-hour to complete.
 
An online meeting is held on the fourth week to conclude the course. 
 
Week 1: How HIV treatment works, the health and prevention benefits of HIV treatment, and how HIV treatment is monitored
Week 2: What taking HIV treatment entails, HIV treatment drug regimens, and the importance of adhering to HIV treatment and its relation to HIV drug resistance
Week 3: How to support people starting, switching, and staying on HIV treatment
Week 4: Interactive online meeting – HIV Treatment: Implications for front-line service providers.

Totally outRIGHT Toronto is a free online sexual health program for young, gay, bi, queer men. The program started in Toronto in 2015 and has over 300+ participants. One recent grad described Totally outRIGHT Toronto's broad-based approach to sexual health as "the guide every queer guy coming out needs to thrive in life."

The next series (Series 29) is happening virtually on Saturday afternoons (from 1 to 6 pm) and Wednesday evenings (from 7 to 9 pm) on the following dates in 2022:

April 30, May 4, 7, 11, 14, 18, 21, 25, 28 and June 1.

The Give A F*ck Campaign is a PrEP awareness campaign from the Ontario HIV Treatment Network. This campaign is targeted specifically to men who have sex with men (MSM), African, Caribbean and Black MSM and transgender and non-binary individuals. It seeks to highlight the diversity of these communities through the depiction of a wide variety of models.

  • As a reminder, enhanced proof of vaccination and other requirements continue to apply in existing settings. This means ensuring that you’ve gotten your booster shot, and can demonstrate proof of vaccination with a QR code. If you’ve yet to download your vaccine certificate, you can do it on this Province of Ontario website.

    This is a welcome change for small businesses who have been long-suffering and deeply impacted by rolling lockdowns. When you are shopping and dining in the coming weeks, I encourage you to consider shopping locally and supporting small businesses.

Support for People Living with Homelessness

If you see someone living with homelessness and in need of support you can call Streets to Homes at 416-338-4766. For mental health support, the Gerstein Crisis Centre is a valuable 24-hours a day, seven days a week service in our community and they have crisis workers on standby at 416-929-5200.

As COVID-19 continues to circulate in Canada, we all need to continue to take simple steps to stay healthy, limit the spread of COVID-19 and make informed decisions about COVID-19 vaccination. 
To reach parents in Canada with credible information about COVID-19 vaccination for children 5-11 years old, we are providing you with resources from Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada that can be shared within your networks. We encourage you to share this important information with people in Canada and we appreciate your support in spreading awareness of these resources.
