The ideal candidate will work closely with the fund’s partners to ensure the fund is properly supporting its portfolio companies, properly maintain accurate financials/updates of its 150+ startups, grow its network of collaborative investors (VC + Angels), engage deal flow partners, and throw great events. Berkeley SkyDeck is hosting Pad-13 Pitch Showcase on Thursday, March 10th. Several Pad-13 companies will be selected to pitch, followed by one-minute feedback from each of the judges.
Judges will choose their favorite startup and the audience will also vote for an audience favorite.

Diversity in Tech Symposium to focus on “Advancing Climate Resilience”

Expanding Diversity and Gender Equity in Tech (EDGE in Tech), CITRIS Banatao Institute and Berkeley Engineering are hosting the Diversity in Tech Symposium on “Advancing Climate Resilience” on March 10th and 11th. The symposium will include keynotes and panels related to air quality, food systems, energy, environmental justice and more. The event will also include a career fair. This will provide an ideal opportunity to share approaches to advancing sustainability as well as encourage broader corporate responsibility and progress on ESG goals and Sustainable Development Goals. Respira Labs, a Spring ‘20 Cohort company, has recently raised $1 million in pre-seed venture capital led by Zentynel Frontier Investments with participation by VentureWell, ImpactAssets and several angel investors from the United States and Latin America. Respira received additional grants from NSF and also from NIH which are highly competitive. Coreshell
Coreshell, a Fall '19 Cohort company revolutionizing rechargeable batteries, just announced $12 million in Series A funding. Coreshell is trying to commercialize a thin coating for a critical part of lithium-ion batteries that allows them to safely operate at higher temperatures, and slow their degradation. By doing so, they address one of the main challenges in automotive batteries which is cooling the massive packs of individual battery cells a vehicle requires. Time by Ping (TBP) (Batch 5 cohort), the time automation company, has announced $36.5M in Series B funding led by ACME Capital and Anthos Capital with participation from existing investors Upfront Ventures, Initialized Capital, and The House Fund. Marc Benioff’s TIME Ventures and Gokul Rajaram also joined the round. The investment brings TBP’s total financing to over $55M. TBP’s automation software leverages AI to empower knowledge workers with new insight into how they spend their time so they can use it with intention. Read on here.

Kiwibot (Batch 6 Cohort) has just raised $7.5M from investors and closed a $20M contract with brand partner and food service company, Sodexo! Kiwibot's mission is to utilize its semi-autonomous robots and cutting-edge technology for food delivery service, offering a zero-emission solution for universities across the nation. Nanode (Batch 12 Cohort) is excited to announce $170k in non-dilutive government funding to utilize machine learning to expedite battery chemistry optimization, and was featured in an International Tin Association article on the potential of their battery anode technology. Nanode has a promising pilot plant at the University of Alberta, Canada from where it was spun out in spring 2020.
