💸Tax Obligations for International Students

The deadline to file taxes for calendar year 2021 will be here before you know it! Last Friday, we sent an email to all international students, scholars, and student interns outlining tax obligations and important dates. This year's filing deadline is April 18, 2022. If you are a nonresident for tax purposes and you were in the U.S. during calendar year 2021, you must file Form 8843 regardless of whether you earned income.

At the link below, you can register to view the recording of last week's tax webinar for Penn international students and scholars, which covered topics such as:

  • What counts as "income"
  • How to file your tax documents with Sprintax
  • Important income documents
  • Filing Pennsylvania taxes
  • What to do if you filed incorrectly
  • How to protect yourself from targeted tax scams
