From Our Chaplain

A PRAYER FOR WORDS

God of the Ages, and God of Today,

Please, will you help us to know what to say?

If we are careless with words that we choose,

We may learn quickly what we have to lose.

Words are so shallow when not matched with deeds,

Yet we must speak them, to meet human’s needs.

Language that’s written and language that’s read

Form the beginnings of what’s later said.

Words that are bitter, sarcastic, and cruel

Flame up like embers when sprinkled with fuel.

Words spoken quickly, without enough thought,

Often result in great pain being wrought.

Words spoken kindly in love and in care

Bring us together, almost like a prayer.

Words that encourage leave no room for hate;

Such words inspire, instead of berate.

God of the Ages, and God of Today,

Disciples asked you to teach them to pray.

We still are learning, so help us again

To follow your teaching. Amen and Amen!

James Richardson

AMARCORD
Wednesday, March 30 at 7:30 pm

Founded in 1992 by former members of St. Thomas’s Boys Choir in Leipzig, Amarcord has since become one of the world’s premier vocal ensembles and leading representatives of Leipzig’s music scene in Germany and abroad. Amarcord’s hallmarks include a unique tone, breathtaking homogeneity, musical authenticity, and a good dose of charm and humor. They perform a vast and highly diverse repertoire from medieval plainsong to cappella folksong arrangements.

The concert is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Reservations required.

Note: to my respected colleagues who are sore that this and Jeremy Denk in January have been on Wednesdays, this was because in relaunching and planning our season on such short notice we had little choice with agencies. I don't anticipate any more Wednesday concerts going forward. Thanks!

PICK A PIECE.....PLAY IN THE RECITAL...

This year's annual Members Organ Recital will be held on Sunday, May 22 at 5:00 pm at First Baptist Church. We need members to play. This is a great opportunity to play for others and to challenge yourself to learn a new piece. Maybe you have an old favorite that you prefer to play. All are welcome to make a plan, start practicing, and let's make some music together. You can go to the First Baptist Church, Savannah, website to see the organ specifications. If you'd like to see the instrument or reserve practice time please contact Justin Addington.
