Join us for a day of voter canvassing in Redwood City! We plan to talk to hundreds of people in District 6 about their housing situation and what they hope for their community. We will refine some of our canvassing techniques and continue to collect signatures for our Redwood City Petition for Safe and Decent Housing.

All are welcome! The day will begin with a short training, so no prior experience is necessary.

Ir Tzedek: Pursuing a Just City through Community Organizing is a 4-week workshop series on zoom starting March 15th (taking place over four Tuesdays evenings from 7pm-8:30pm) with two subsequent in-person meetings. We will learn about the basics of community organizing through a lens of Jewish theology, Jewish organizing, and Jewish identity. We will cover: What is organizing? How do we organize to shift power to those in our community who are most impacted by oppression, and how can we build the skills necessary? We will also learn about how Faith in Action Bay Area organizes in San Mateo County and San Francisco through a model that is centered on building relationships across lines of difference.

This workshop series is intended for exploration and connection among Jewish congregants and community groups in San Mateo County and San Francisco who may have some economic security and/or racial privilege, and who wish to learn about participating in a cross-class, multi-racial, multi-lingual organization that is led by those who are impacted by injustice. We are excited to pilot a curriculum that centers Jewish learning, history, values, and theology. When you sign up, we ask that you commit to attending all of the sessions, or at the very minimum 4 of the 6 sessions, as the sessions build on one another. We invite everyone who is open to learning about organizing, and will provide subsequent opportunities to get involved with Faith in Action Bay Area for those who are interested.

To express interest or sign up, please fill out our interest form.

If you have questions, please reach out to Nani Friedman, community organizer at Faith in Action Bay Area (nani@faithinactionba.org) or Avital Raff, community organizer at The Kitchen (avital@thekitchensf.org).
