Last week, I featured a YouTube video about a t-shirt company called, Life is Good. Bert Jacobs, one of the brothers who started this successful company, did a TED Talk in which he talked about how the company got started and the difference it is making in the world.

In that TED talk, he mentioned something about his mom that caught my attention. According to Bert, his mother started every evening dinner by having him and his seven siblings tell the family something good that happened that day. He goes on in his talk to explain how that simple ritual changed how he and his brother saw the world.

As we look for ways to encourage our children to be optimistic, this easy-to-implement little step could be a game-changer like it was for these brothers. As Bert says in the video, maybe it could be something we do at the dinner table and other times of the day. Why not take it to the office and start our meetings with everyone saying how “life is good.” Maybe we can ask a friend to “tell me something good” when meeting up for coffee; or individually we can think about something good that happened each day before going to bed.

The key to this little idea becoming transformative is focusing on the good things that happen and consistently doing it. We all need to eat dinner, why not make it more than just something about food?

So go ahead – start tonight. Try it for a week, and see how it goes. Maybe this will be something that catches on, and your kids will use it as the inspiration for a million dollar business. But even if they don’t, I still think it might be a million dollar idea.

Have a great long weekend,

Jumpa Lagi & Selamat Tinggal T-Shirt Orders

🇰🇷  2022 줌빠 라기& 슬라맛 띵갈 티셔츠 주문

An important tradition at Dalat International School is saying "goodbye" well. As we prepare for the final quarter of the school year, we are recognizing those who are returning next year, and those who are moving away. Students and staff who are returning can get a “Jumpa Lagi” shirt, and students and staff who are moving can get a “Selamat Tinggal” shirt. (Jumpa Lagi means See You Later, and Selamat Tinggal means Goodbye).

The “Jumpa Lagi” shirts (for returning students/staff) are navy blue with white print, and the “Selamat Tinggal” shirts (for leaving students/staff) are white with navy blue print. The shirts are made from cotton.

These shirts may be worn Fridays during Quarter 4 with full length blue jeans (all — no holes or rips), capri jeans (girls — calf length), or school uniform bottoms (all).

We hope everyone will participate in this rich tradition. RM25 will be charged to school accounts for each shirt ordered and proceeds benefit the Junior Class fundraising initiatives.

Please fill out one order per child. Deadline for order is Friday, March 4, 2022.

Dalat Missions Emphasis Week, March 2–4

🇰🇷  3월 2-4일, 달랏 선교 영성주간

Next week, March 2–4, is Missions Emphasis Week (MEW) across all divisions. From P3 to 12th grade, students will have the opportunity to hear from different guest speakers.

In Ephesians 2:10 the Apostle Paul wrote, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” The three days will be centered around this verse and our theme “Do good.”

Each division will participate in service projects, here on Dalat campus and around the island. We are looking forward to this week. Please join us in prayer for God to speak to your students during this week.

Middle School MEW Service Project
🇰🇷  중학교 선교영성주간 봉사 프로젝트

Middle school is excited to announce that we will be doing a service project during the Missions Emphasis Week (MEW)! Grade 5 and 6 students will have the opportunity to donate items to a local cat rescue sanctuary called Cat Beach Penang. Grade 7 and 8 students will have the opportunity to donate items to the Family Hope Welfare Association. MS students and parents will receive a detailed list of items that they can bring for their assigned organization. We are all excited about this opportunity and look forward to blessing these local organizations!

High School MEW Service Project
🇰🇷  고등학교 선교영성주간 봉사 프로젝트

Did you know that according to the UN Refugee Agency, there are approximately 16,000 school-aged students with no access to education? During HS Missions Emphasis Week (MEW) we will spotlight this need and receive offerings from staff and students to help these young people get the education they need to have a better life. RM10 pays for one student to attend school for a week. Let's join together with the high school this week and DO GOOD to those who really need it!
