Ways to pray at home

Pray with us

The World
We continue to ask God that even as the Russian threat to Ukraine escalates, that he will intervene and bring peace to that region and to the hearts of all those living in anxiety, dreading the outcome. We acknowledge with thanks, the efforts of world leaders persisting to seek a diplomatic, negotiated solution to this dispute. With a military government in Mali planning a five-year transition to democratic elections, it is hard to know how to pray after cancelled elections and now French troops withdrawing after being welcomed nine years ago, and so we ask that God’s will be done and that violence may lead to peace amid the confusion and bitterness. The Gambia’s case in the UN court against Myanmar’s accused genocide of Rohingya people (who are mainly Muslims) must deserve support on humanitarian grounds after Myanmar’s military leadership agreed not to commit or incite genocide. Their leadership is being targeted with sanctions against its lucrative state-owned oil and gas enterprise, so we pray this will not just be a punitive measure but will result in a relief of human rights. In Sri Lanka, a deepening economic crisis is resulting in severe shortages, so we pray for great wisdom and integrity for decision makers who must choose between repaying an enormous foreign debt or importing at rising costs the basic needs of its citizens. With the people of Tonga, we give thanks that, five weeks after the volcanic eruption which caused chaos, the main internet connection has been repaired. We also pray that a COVID outbreak brought by aid workers will be well managed.

Our City & State
We are thankful for the further relaxation of restrictions around management of COVID and its variants. Give us grace never to take for granted our rights ahead of our responsibilities to others in our community. We pray for and support businesses trying to survive current difficulties, and hope the current bid to host the 2016 Commonwealth Games might bring fresh encouragement.

The Anglican Communion
The Anglican Church of Kenya.

The Australian Anglican Church
The Diocese of North Queensland (Bp Keith Joseph, Dean Ken Lay; Clergy & People). 30 years after the Diocese of Melbourne began ordaining women to the priesthood, we continue to work and pray for the journey towards equal regard in all spheres of society.

The Diocese of Melbourne
Mentone Grammar School (Mal Cater, Principal; Andrew Stewart, Michael Prabaharan, Chaplains); Dinka Congregation, Casey (Peter Jongroor).

Our Cathedral
For fun and fellowship around God’s word, as we’ve looked together at the First Epistle of John, we sincerely give thanks, and look forward to the next topic of Discipleship.

Those in Sickness or Need
Joan Woodhouse, Alan Skipper, Sara, Ibrahim, Ishaq and Ishmael, Robyn Forbes, Judy Clift, Andrew, Janet Marsden, Henri-Felix Vinson, Monique, Trina Zhou, Tess & Lassy, Len Ying Khong, Betty Harrop.
