Dear <<First Name>>,

As you know, QZMS organizes online speaker events so that Scholars and Alumnae (and Mentors!) have more opportunities to learn from role models, get exposure to interesting topics and practice listening and speaking English.

We are excited to announce our next one at 11 am China time on Sunday, March 6th / 7 pm US Pacific Time on Saturday, March 5th. We will send you a calendar invitation with this zoom link.

We are honored to be joined by Rosie Li, and her speech will be Reclaim Cultures in Metropolis: Ethnography in Chinatown Wet Market.

Rosie Li is a candidate for Master of Environmental Science at Yale University. She started up studying environmental science and policy at Smith College but ended up as a humanity student in environmental anthropology at Yale School of the Environment.

A Foucauldian at heart, she is fascinated by the city, a place where society and nature, representation and being inseparable and integral to each other. She is currently doing field research in Lower Manhattan Chinatown, trying to understand the contradictions, tensions, and conflicts that might form and shift the identity of Chinese in a community anchored by wet markets.

In addition, Rosie is also an amazing cook, hiker and snorkeler!

Pro Tip: prepare at least two questions in advance, so you can contribute to the Question & Answer part during the second half of the call.

See you on Zoom for the talk!
