LIFE @ St. Anne's - 2/23/2022
Hi <<First Name>>, welcome to LIFE @ St. Anne's. We hope this will help you keep up with all the happenings here at St. Anne's. Have a blessed week.
As I sit here thinking, "hmmmm what should I write about???" I realize that I'm avoiding the most obvious topic-LENT. It's probably Freudian but it seems so overdone to ploddingly list out the various ways the one "ought" to observe Lent. If you receive this email newsletter and you actually read it, chances are you are very familiar with Lent. So, I won't bore you with an arrogantly preachy diatribe. What I will say is this: Lent is hard. Lent is hard because being human is hard. And it is in facing this difficulty that we find our need for God. It is in this reflection and acceptance that we meet the Resurrected Christ. Like life, Lent is hard. And both are so very, very worth it.
Peace,
Meg +

Our community needs YOU, check below to see how you can help. If you're interested in starting up a ministry to address a need in the community please see Meg. The real work of being the church begins when we walk out our doors.
Hillcrest - Hillcrest is a transitional housing program for people who need a helping hand. St. Anne's sponsors an apartment for this program in partnership with St. Paul's Lee's Summit. Occasionally there is a need for supplies or volunteers to clean. The Hillcrest ministry is in need of items for their pantry. A list is above the white basket by the table in the Narthex.
St. Michael’s Pantry - St. Michael’s, Independence, hosts a necessity pantry providing a variety personal care items for those in our community needing assistance. This pantry can always use donations of men’s and women’s toiletry and personal hygiene items as well as dish soap and laundry detergent. Any donations should be left in the baskets located in the Narthex. The Pantry operates form 10a-2p the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month.
BackSnack - St. Anne's BackSnack ministry fills 60 backpacks each week with packets of non- perishable food for children at Lee's Summit Elementary. The food is provided by Harvester's and delivered to our church by Episcopal Community Services. BackSnack meets at 1:30 on Monday.
Beds of Bags- Join us to weave plastic bags into "plarn" that will be used to make beds for people who are homeless. We weave plarn before church on Sunday morning.
Nourish KC (Formerly Episcopal Community Services) – The purpose of Nourish KC is both in feeding the hungry, and empowering the poor to move beyond the barriers of poverty with dignity through education and job training. If you are interested in participating or supporting this ministry see the dates below. For more information check out their website: http://episcopalcommunity.diowestmo.org/
