DUT VICE-CHANCELLOR AND PRINCIPAL, PROFESSOR THANDWA ZIZWE MTHEMBU DELIVERS KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT THE LAUNCH OF THE RAJEN REDDY FOUNDATION

The Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the Durban University of Technology, Professor Thandwa Zizwe Mthembu recently delivered a keynote address and led the opening of the Fountain of Life at the launch of the Rajen Reddy (RR) Foundation, held at a gala dinner in Durban on Friday, 18 February 2022.  

The date of the launch also marked the first death anniversary of the late Mr Rajen Reddy, the founder of KZN Oils. According to Mr Reddy’s wife, Mrs Esay Reddy (Group CEO), the Rajen Reddy Foundation is an institutional embodiment of the core values and ideologies of Mr Rajen Reddy as a businessman.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE AND RESCUE DEPARTMENT STUDENTS SHOW OFF THEIR TRUE METTLE AT THE DUSI CANOE MARATHON

Gaining practical experience forms an integral part of training for the Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Emergency Medical Care (EMC) and Rescue Department students who have worked at the recent, prestigious Dusi Canoe Marathon.

The Dusi Canoe Marathon was founded in 1951, and covers roughly 120km between the cities of Pietermaritzburg and Durban in KwaZulu-Natal on the East Coast of South Africa. It is the biggest canoeing event on the African continent, and one of the world’s most popular river marathons, attracting between 900 and 1600 paddlers each year.

THE COUNTDOWN FOR THE FNB VARSITY SHIELD 2022 HAS BEGUN!

The countdown to the 2022 FNB Varsity Shield for the Durban University of Technology rugby team, DUT Rugby has begun.

The tournament will commence on, Friday, 04 March 2022 at Makhanda, in the Eastern Cape.  The DUT team will be participating for the second consecutive year in South Africa’s second tier university rugby tournament. DUT Rugby will play their first game of the tournament against Round 1 and 2 hosts, FNB Rhodes on Sunday, 06 March 2022. All of the games will be live on SuperSport (DStv channel 211) and will be simulcast on SuperSport Channel, 209.

DUT HOSTS FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The First International Conference on Sustainable Development was hosted by the Directorate for Research and Postgraduate Support at the Durban University of Technology on Microsoft Teams. This conference was held in collaboration with the eThekwini Municipality, the City of uMhlathuze Municipality and the International Education and Partnerships Directorate.

The conference was linked to the DUT ENVISION2030, and the inaugural edition of the international conference was centred on sustainable development across Africa. The online conference saw in attendance international collaborators and local participants. The integrated approach adopted by the conference organisers discussed key issues relating to the critical achievement of sustainable African goals and aspirations.
