More about the neoLENS Project

At the country level, descriptions of the approaches and evaluation of the success of establishing inpatient newborn care units for small and sick newborns have not been comprehensively documented and communicated. PATH has worked with stakeholders in Ethiopia, India, Malawi, and Rwanda to understand the approaches taken in establishing and strengthening newborn care units for SSN, and packaged their learnings in a format that can serve as a reference for other geographies. They have also collaborated with MASS Design to create an interactive virtual tour of a district-level newborn unit and its core components-- an opportunity for us to be transported to the field after having been home-bound for so long. This work will inform existing investments related to how to roll out a package of dedicated NICU services, and potential new complementary investments on packages of care at lower levels of the health system.
