Dear Friend,

Winter may still be hanging on, but it's not too early to think about picnicking, swimming, kayaking, and hiking through sun dappled paths! These delightful activities are for everyone and anyone to enjoy. Vermont Parks Forever's Park Access Fund provides park access to thousands of Vermonters who otherwise would not have the chance to experience all that Vermont's state parks have to offer.

Below, you'll find a recap of our 2021 Park Access Program and some ways you can help the program continue to grow.

Looking forward to seeing you in the parks.

Seeking New Community Partners

Do you know of a Vermont organization whose participants could benefit from time in the state parks?  Vermont Parks Forever is growing our Park Access program and we need your help.  Please send an email to info@vermontparksforever.org or reply to this email to suggest a community partner. Organizations will be reviewed and asked to apply for our grants by April 15th, 2022.

Parks visits create lifelong memories

Reflections from a summer in the parks
"Releaf celebrated our July Community Dinner and Conversation + 1st Birthday Bash at Silver Lake [State Park]. As a statewide collective, it was so exciting to convene with 30 BIPOC community members from every corner of the state. "
-Vermont Releaf Collective member

“It was so wonderful to see my husband have an ear to ear smile. It’s been a long and difficult year” - NDAA Adaptive Kayaking Clinic participant

“This has easily been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life” - NDAA Adaptive Kayaking Clinic volunteer

"I can't believe I made it all the way across the lake! I'm so proud of myself. " -Hailey, 13, Experience Literacy Camper

"Can we come back tomorrow and do this again?!" -Claire, 12, Experience Literacy Camper

"School should be like this all year long!" -Tim, 12, Experience Literacy Camper
Thanks to the Park Access Fund and the support of generous donors, Vermont Parks Forever granted over 4,000 days in the parks to our community partners. Here's some of what we accomplished together last summer:
  • Foster families and Vermont Kin as Parents received passes and camping support as they celebrated their new families in the parks.
  • Laraway Backpack Program participants received individualized support with park visits that included swimming, fishing, canoeing and kayaking.
  • Essential workers with pandemic fatigue were able to unwind in nature
  • VPF granted passes to community partners organizing skill clinics and festivals geared toward introducing BIPOC community members to sports from which they have been traditionally excluded.

Every dollar donated to the Park Access Fund provides an opportunity for our neighbors to explore the outdoors, build healthy bodies and minds, and become responsible stewards of the natural world.
