💌 Welcome to Issue #54 of The Conscious Edit

If I'm being honest, this newsletter wasn't easy to put together. Between the Ukraine War and another IPCC report that came out this week emphasizing the dire state of our climate, the world feels heavy.

In times like these, I try to remember the motto: take action and take care.

Take Action:

Here is a list of 7 organizations providing shelter, food, medicine, and other resources to refugees (which number 1 million thus far) and others facing humanitarian disaster in Ukraine.

And here is a roundup of ways to support marginalized people who are currently in or fleeing Ukraine.

🖊 I'm also sharing an open letter from 1 Granary to the fashion industry that calls on brands and leaders to do more, which you can find at the end of this newsletter.

Take Care:
Pause and think about what you need most right now: do you need time alone or do you need to connect with loved ones? Do you need to get moving or do you need to rest? Do you need to journal or do you need to talk? There is no "right" answer — listen to your body and figure out what will help you feel restored after a rough week.

Here are some ideas for free self-care (that don't involve buying anything).

🎙️  This week's episode of the podcast we're continuing with the season 3 theme of unveiling the curtain on the conscious fashion space with a behind the scenes look at sustainable influencer-brand partnerships.

I chatted with my manager, Abigail Davidson, to talk all things sustainable influencing and navigating sponsorships and brand partnerships in a mindful way. (Not an easy balance!)

🎙️ You can find this episode, as well as the full transcript from this interview in the show notes.

Now onto the rest of this week's recommendations...

Fashion Unites Against War Open Letter

While fashion is often dismissed as something frivolous, trivial or escapist, the fashion industry is a powerful force socially, culturally, economically, and even politically.

This is something often addressed in conversations about sustainability, but it can also be said for global events and injustices.

On Tuesday, 1 Granary published an open letter to the fashion industry, calling on fashion businesses and leaders to stand with Ukraine and condemn Russia's invasion. You can learn more and sign the letter here.
