A Slice of Ireland Presentation at Former Governors' Mansion State Historic Site

BISMARCK, N.D. – The public is invited to "The Irish and Kerry Patch: A Slice of Ireland in Bismarck," a free presentation by Ann Vadnie, on Thursday, March 17, at 7 p.m. at the Former Governors’ Mansion. The Former Governors' Mansion is located at the corner of Fourth Street and Avenue B in Bismarck.

Learn about the role of the railroad and military in bringing Irish immigrants to Bismarck, where they created a small neighborhood they named “Kerry Patch.” The presentation will include stories of the men and women who lived there and became a colorful part of Bismarck’s history. Vadnie is a retired teacher and an avid Bismarck history buff.

The Former Governors’ Mansion is managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. Admission is free. The mansion is currently open the second Friday and Saturday of each month from 1 to 5 p.m. To make an appointment outside of regular hours, phone 701.328.9528 or email jcampbell@nd.gov. Additional upcoming educational programs sponsored by the State Historical Society of North Dakota can be found at history.nd.gov/events.
