Rob Schouten Gallery
Rob Schouten Gallery & Sculpture Garden presents:
Color to Drive Away the Winter Blues.
Group Show of our Gallery Artists
March 3rd - 28th

Opening Reception Saturday, March 5th from 5pm-7pm.
During Langley’s First Saturday Art Walk

As we continue into the often rainy and dark days of winter, we felt it was time to bring some fresh color and light to the equation. Our talented gallery artists have responded by bringing in some of their most exquisite original pieces, which we are delighted to display.

Included in the exhibit are handmade jewelry, fine sculptures in bronze, stone, wood and steel, original paintings in a variety of styles and mediums, and some extraordinary fine art glass including handblown, sculpted and fused glass. You’ll also find well crafted wood work, charming encaustics, ceramics and fiber art, witty assemblages and a wide array of other beautiful art objects sure to bring delight.

In the Sculpture Garden the crocuses, daffodils and hyacinths are blooming among 18 sculptures in bronze, steel, glass, and stone.

We hope you can come by and enjoy the beauty!

Rob Schouten Gallery, a premier showcase for Whidbey Island and Northwest artists, is located at 101 Anthes Avenue, Langley WA at the corner of First and Anthes. The gallery is open Weekends 10 - 5, Weekdays 11 - 4, Tuesdays by appointment.

Welcome to the world of Susan Barrett‘s 360 degree photography. Susan, from Everett WA, uses a specialized camera, software, and camera supports to create unique images throughout the Forest. Here, she envelopes Jeff Kahn‘s elegant Wind Shear within the verdant forest and sky all around it.

Susan has created other 360 degree perspectives of our art and we will be sharing more of her photography with you in the near future.

“I love Whidbey Island. My parents used to live in Skagit Head. I have wonderful memories from all over the island. My co-worker shared about the Sculpture Forest and I had to go. I love everything about it! The art, the walk, the trees, the birds, and the different aspect that every artist has contributed.”

Thank you, Susan and Jeff!

Penn Cove Gallery
Penn Cove Gallery's featured artist for March is
Katy Holley

Katy Holley couldn't stop drawing all over her school papers as a child, so when she was 12 her parents found an eccentric art teacher who taught in the style of the old masters to help channel her perpetual doodles. Painting grabbed her attention, and she fell in love with the works of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. She pursued further education at Columbus College of Art and Design for three years, and has continued to paint ever since. Katy aspires to instill a feeling of sensitivity and drama to otherwise mundane, quiet, and overlooked subjects.

As a wife, and mother to two energetic young children, artistic pursuit has mostly been relegated to an evening activity, but nearly every night Katy can be found painting while listening to her favorite audiobooks or podcasts.

How can you not love a flower?’

Artworks Gallery
Artworks Gallery March featured artists are Jim Short and Nancy Frances.

Artist Jim Short: Wood has been essential to civilization, and its utility and beauty still call many of us. My wood art and functional bowls come only from pieces of rescued trees found on Whidbey Island, which reflect a record of climate and time.

Artist Nancy Frances - I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember. I started drawing in pencil as a very young child. As an intuitive painter, I delight in making abstract marks. I enjoy sharing my point of view and expressing myself and how I view the world through my art.

Open Friday through Monday, 11am - 4pm

Whidbey Island Music Festival
& Classical Uncorked
No Green Beer or Leprechauns...
Just great music, fun, and good company... Classical Uncorked presents Erin Go Baroque, a celebration of Celtic music, history and culture. Soprano Natalie Ingrisano joins champion Scottish fiddler/baroque violinist Brandon Vance and harpsichordist/guitarist Henry Lebedinsky for a joy-filled and in-depth journey into the crossroads of art and folk music in 18th century Ireland and Scotland. Explore Irish baroque violin sonatas alongside traditional airs and tunes from the 18th century to the present. Follow Irish emigrants across the sea to America, and hear songs of joy, heartbreak, and whiskey - and even a song with words by St. Patrick himself. Of course, no real St. Paddy's Day show would be complete without live Irish step dancing!

We're offering three opportunities to get into the St. Paddy's spirit, beginning with a concert and premium Irish whiskey tasting led by the indomitable Adam Irving of Scotchology.com. You can also enjoy the show with a lovely Saturday afternoon matinee at the Whidbey Island Center for the Arts or a Sunday afternoon treat in the gorgeous acoustic of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Medina, just a quick jaunt over the 520 bridge from Seattle.

As part of our commitment to helping curb COVID, all venues require masks and proof of COVID vaccination for admission.
