ASSISTANCE DOGS NORTHWEST - February 2022
Marshal Makes a Difference
Courthouse Facility Dog Marshal graduated in 2015 and was placed at the Thurston County Prosecutor's Office. He helps hundreds of children who are victims of crime each year as they go through the difficult legal process. His handlers, Wendy Ireland and Kim Carroll, say that "he is the most valuable tool in our toolbox" when describing how much he makes a difference for those they serve. Click HERE to see Marshal's new video and HERE to subscribe to his Facebook page!
Introducing Dr. Wendi Major and Meadow!
As COVID case counts come down, we are happy to be getting more requests from our community partners for our therapy teams to visit. The need is greater than ever, and our ADNW Therapy Dog Teams are eager and honored to resume and expand visits to nursing homes, assisted living facilities, veteran's hospitals and libraries, just to name a few. Pictured here is our Community Outreach Director, Dr. Wendi Major, with Facility Dog, Meadow. Wendi has been part of the ADH / ADNW family for almost 15 years, working as a Hospital Facility Dog handler and volunteer!
Puppy of the Month: Nico!
Introducing our newest hero-in-training, Nico! He is being raised on Bainbridge Island with our longtime puppy raiser, Kathy Woodford. Nico has a very playful personality and is currently learning house manners and cues such as: "sit", "down", and "go to bed". Thanks to everyone who submitted "N" names last month!
