West Morris Church's mission is to Awaken Hope with the Transforming Light of Jesus.

Our vision is to partner with God to cultivate flourishing and unleash revival in West Indy.

Join us in this life-transforming, hope-filled Kingdom work!
"We have the same faithful spirit as what is written in scripture: I had faith, and so I spoke. We also have faith, and so we also speak. We do this because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus will also raise us with Jesus, and he will bring us into his presence along with you. All these things are for your benefit. As grace increases to benefit more and more people, it will cause gratitude to increase, which results in God's glory."
2 Corinthians 4.13-15 CEB

Practicing Gratitude

This Sunday we will be concluding our Rooted Rhythm series, focusing on the critical practice of gratitude. When was the last time you considered all God has given you? When we practice gratitude as part of our rooted rhythms, it can lead to the healthy habit of generosity. We love, forgive, welcome, and give...because God loves, forgives, welcomes and gives first and abundantly! We follow God's example.

On Wednesday, March 2, we begin a new season on the Church calendar - it's a season called Lent. Lent is a 40-day season of intentional time of reflection, repentance, preparation and anticipation of what is coming.  At the end of Lent we celebrate the hope of Easter! Whether Lent is something new or familiar to you, you're invited to set aside these 40 days to draw close to Jesus. Here are a few ways we'll be observing Lent at West Morris Church:

  • Ash Wednesday Service - Wednesday, March 2 at 6:30 PM. Come & worship at this special service, learn about Lent and prepare your heart for this 40-day journey with Jesus to the cross and empty tomb of Easter! Want more info? Contact Pastor Rachel Mohlman at 317-677-2828.
  • Journey with Jesus devotional posters for each household - a great way to keep your eyes focused on Jesus throughout the season. Receive your devotional poster at the Ash Wednesday Service or on the first Sunday of Lent, March 6.
  • 40 Days with Jesus - Our Sermon Series throughout Lent will be focused on journeying with Jesus. Get to know your Savior in new ways that will deepen your relationship with him!
  • My Favorite Jesus Story - What is your favorite Jesus story? And why is it special to you? We'd love to hear you share. Record a video of yourself sharing your answers to those questions and send it to Pastor Kristen (email westmorrispastor@gmail.com, text 317-464-7360 or facebook messenger).

As you prepare for the final sermon in our Rooted Rhythms & Healthy Habits series, what has God been teaching you? Which rooted rhythms have you begun to incorporate in your life? And as we look ahead to Lent, what would you like God to do in your life and relationship with him? What is God's invitation to you?

We pray for the people of Ukraine - a sovereign, peaceful country - who has been attacked by Russia, a foreign aggressor. At the same time, thousands across Russia have courageously begun to protest against the aggression. In these challenging times, we remind ourselves of our beliefs and look to our God who is the Prince of Peace.

In the Free Methodist Book of Discipline, we clearly declare what we believe about violence and aggression: “At the same time, we regard aggression, as an instrument of local, state or national policy, as indefensible. The destruction of life and property necessary to warfare are contrary to the spirit and mind of Jesus Christ (Isaiah 2:4; 9:6-7; Matthew 5:44- 45). It is our duty as Christians to promote peace and goodwill, to foster understanding and trust among all people, and to work for the renunciation of war as a means to settle disputes.”

Our hearts are specifically with Misha and Lena Petrochenko and their children who are Ukrainian Free Methodist missionaries serving in Rivne, Ukraine (pictured below). The FM Church in Ukraine is known as "Mahak Nadii" or "Beacon of Hope." May the Free Methodists of Ukraine be beacons of hope in this time of war. Might the prayer below help guide your prayers.

Connect in Community with Community Groups

Our Community Groups are in full swing - and you're still invited to join in. If you'd like something Sunday morning at 9:30 AM, join the "Digging into God's Word" downstairs in the Project Lydia Room off Riggs Hall or the "Listening Prayer" in the family room at the back of the sanctuary. These groups start this Sunday!

Sunday afternoons at 4pm, join the "Healthy Habits" group in the New Day Cafe (door #1) for a special time of accountability and focus on strengthening good habits, and breaking bad ones.
