Dear <<First Name>>,

This week, I celebrated Family Day with my loved ones! This day serves as a reminder to all of us to focus our thoughts, energies and time on what matters most—our families. It's easy to lose sight of what's most important—our children, parents, siblings, and other loved ones throughout our busy lives filled with learning, teaching, and working.

The time spent with my kids gave me an opportunity to re-energize, refocus and share some quality time together.

Here are some things I'd like to share with you from the week:
Budget 2022 moves us forward together to build a StrongerBC

Over the last few years, British Columbians have been challenged in ways we’ve never imagined.

Through Budget 2022, we’re building an even stronger B.C. and making life better for people by investing in our province’s economic, environmental, and social strengths.

Budget 2022:
  • supports bold actions to fight climate change and to protect people and communities from climate-related disasters
  • helps with the cost of living by reducing child care costs
  • delivers a comprehensive approach to respond to and prevent homelessness
  • makes investments needed to close the digital divide and grow an inclusive and sustainable economy
  • continues to strengthen the public services British Columbians rely on
As we continue to respond to the effects of the pandemic, we will be building on our strengths to prepare us for the challenges -- and opportunities -- of tomorrow.

COVID-19 rapid tests for people 70+ to be available at pharmacies

Free rapid COVID-19 antigen testing kits will soon be available for people 70+ in pharmacies throughout B.C. This will allow people to quickly test for COVID-19 when they have symptoms so they can keep themselves and their loved ones safe.

As our supply of testing kits grows, the availability will be expanded to the broader community.

Protecting people, communities from climate-related disasters

Climate change has had a significant impact on people’s lives and our communities. Budget 2022 provides more than $2.1 billion to help people recover from the devastating floods and wildfires last year and to better protect communities against future climate disasters.

This funding will make it possible for people and communities to recover and become even more resilient in the future.

COVID-19 treatment outpatient virtual service launches for those at higher risk

A new online assessment tool and virtual service have been launched for people to see if they could receive and benefit from COVID-19 anti-viral treatments.

As part of the new virtual service, people can find out if these treatments are right for them by following the four-step process available online and a physician or pharmacist team will decide if treatment is safe and appropriate.
