Coming up: coach trip to Hestercombe House and Gardens; two local plant fairs
On Tuesday March 8th we have our first coach trip of the year to Hestercombe House and Gardens. Explore 50 acres of parkland with beautiful arts and crafts influenced gardens designed by Gertrude Jekyll and Edwin Lutyens. Hestercombe has a contemporary art gallery, tea rooms and gift shop and makes a very good day out. £20 for members; £23 for guests. Depart Uplyme Village Hall at 9.15am. Please book with Jenny Harding jennyhlyme@hotmail.co.uk or 07773 604137.
There are also two local plant fairs coming up to whet our appetite for the new season:
- Sidmouth Daffodil Day is on Saturday March 5th from 10am to 3pm at Kennaway House, Sidmouth. Highlights of the day include a plant fair, daffodil art exhibition, daffodil-themed stalls, children’s events and a local shop window competition plus vintage charabanc tours to the town’s daffodil sites, and refreshments. For more information see http://www.sidmouthdaffodilsociety.org.uk
- Forde Abbey is holding a spring plant and gardening fair on Sunday March 6th from 10am to 4pm, with over 20 stalls. This coincides with Forde Abbey’s Crocus Week.
