Ukraine is bordered by Belarus to the North, Russia to the East, the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea to the south, and Moldova and Romania to the Southwest. The far Southeast separates Ukraine from Russia by the Kerch Strait which connects the Sea of Azov to the Black Sea.

Some of the traditional Ukrainian dishes include: Borscht, Chicken Kiev, Potato Pancakes, Stuffed Cabbage Rolls(Golubsti), Banush(corn grits, fried pork, cheese and mushrooms), Okroshka(Sour Soup), Salo (Pork Fat), Vareniki (Dumpling), Holodets (meat broth frozen to a jelly-like state with meat pieces inside), Syrniki(cottage cheese, flour, eggs and sugar- topped with jam and sour cream), Homemade sausages, Nalisniki(very thin pancake)
