Dear <<First Name>>,

Hi Everyone,

Please be sure to book a place at our “Festival Feast”. This is going to take place twice during our Eastbourne Spring Water Festival 22, so whoever cannot make one will be able to make the other!

Please choose either Sunday 15th May or Sunday 22nd May, both sitting down at 7 pm. Please email plasticfreeeastbourne@gmail.com with your choice of date and menu choices.

Please send a £10 deposit by the end of March to me. The total charge for the 3-course meal will be £24 which includes a tip. You can take the option of just 2 courses. There is also a Children's menu so the whole family can join in.

Planning future activities:
we need and are searching for volunteers for 2 events:

1.    Eastbourne Carnival will be held on Saturday 4th June 2022. Plastic Free Eastbourne is looking to be using a float. We will need to decide on decoration and participants and other things! We are looking for creative and willing volunteers!

2.    Eastbourne Eco-Festival on the weekend of 29th, 30th, 31st July. We have been invited to be part of this festival with our publicity stall. We need several volunteers each day to help run it and for somebody at the end of the festival on Sunday to take the stall home until the following 15th August.

If YOU want to volunteer for either of these, please email plasticfreeeastbourne@gmail.com

Refill

The new model of our future Refill Stations will hopefully be with us early this month! Anticipation and excitement are building ~ watch this space...

We have been accepted by Aviva again to run a fundraiser. This time we are seeking £1500 as a contribution for a Refill Station in Shinewater Park.

Please contribute whatever you can and also please share this among your contacts, family and friends. There are rewards too for donors: 1 of 10 stainless steel refillable drinking bottles, worth £20 for a donation of £20. 2 pairs of tickets to our Rock and Blues Concert by local group “Southern Spirit” worth £16 a pair for a donation of £50.
Creative Competition
There is a Writing/Media “Creative Competition” for all ages including adults. Entries will be judged in age categories. The Title of this competition is “The Sea”. Your responses can take the form of poetry, creative writing or video.

If YOU wish to enter, please email suedixonjwg@gmail.com There will be prizes! This competition is ON NOW with the closing date Friday 13th May ~ this is the opening day of the Festival itself.

For further details of events and how to book, please look at social media and next month's ~ April~ Newsletter.

Many more events are being created. Tickets will be available from MyTicketShop.co.uk ~ a free local service and Eventbrite.

Alex Hayter of Titan360 is going to be launching a publicity campaign that will encourage businesses to sponsor our publicity with benefits for them/you! Please “watch this space”
A big THANK YOU to the Beacon Shopping Centre ~ since August 2020, we have had the use of an empty shopfront for publicising our campaign. We have now had to give it up so that a retail outlet can set up here. We are grateful!
Talk to St Wilfred's Hospice W.I.
This was a face to face event. We were paid a fee of £50, which I divided so that Plastic Free Eastbourne donated £25 to St Wilfred's Hospice.
Biomass Plastics
Our lobbying campaign has stalled. We have made 3 attempts to persuade the parliamentary committee to agree that it can be published as a petition. I have now had discussions with a Member of the House of Lords. He has offered to discuss with colleagues about the wording to make it more likely for the parliamentary committee to pass this potentially important petition. I await his response.
Show the Love
Show the Love was a small event to promote the things you want to protect from Climate Change. Thank you to Evie Sier of Eastbourne Greenpeace and also to Robin and Sue Sykes for holding our banner as part of this event.

Eastbourne Half Marathon

Please remember to support Christina Kearley, who is running in the Eastbourne Half Marathon. She is fundraising for Plastic Free Eastbourne. Please help her raise £1000 for a Refill Station...

Well done and GOOD LUCK Christina! YOU could be their 6th Supporter. The fund is growing - but it has slowed down and could do with your support as we are approaching her event! Please donate!
