COVID-19 Update
As you will be aware, the government have removed all remaining domestic restrictions in England regarding Coronavirus. We ask that families remain vigilant and keep any children with symptoms of Covid at home. We also ask that if there is a confirmed or possible positive case at home, please consider keeping your preschooler at home if possible, to help protect the vulnerable members of our community.
While it is not a requirement to do so, we support parents who wish to wear masks when entering the setting.
Regarding preschoolers who have tested positive, the following from the current guidance for educational settings applies:
'Children and young people with COVID-19 should not attend their education setting while they are infectious. They should take a LFD test from 5 days after their symptoms started (or the day their test was taken if they did not have symptoms) followed by another one the next day. If both these tests results are negative, they should return to their educational setting, as long as they feel well enough to do so and do not have a temperature.'
Please inform us as soon as possible if your child has tested positive.
At Pre-School, we will be continuing with regular cleaning and disinfecting, and encouraging good hygiene and hand washing with the children. We have two CO2 monitors set up in the main hall and back room to monitor the air quality and improve ventilation when necessary.

Themes and Special Days in March

-Space Week...continued-
After the success of Space Week before half term, we have decided to extend the theme for another week after half term. The children were so excited and interested in this theme, and there are so many more opportunities for learning, that we want to follow the children's lead and continue to engage them with this topic. We will also be repeating our bottle rocket launch so that more of the children can experience the fun!
If you have any larger cardboard boxes at home please bring them in this week!

-Pancake Day Tuesday 1st March-
Tuesday 1st March is Pancake Day (or Shrove Tuesday) and we will be putting on a fantastic fun day of pancake activities.

-World Book Day Thursday 3rd March and Book Week 7th-11th March-
Thursday 3rd March is World Book Day. Children can attend wearing dressing up outfits if they want to, but please don't feel the need to buy a costume just for the day. We love stories and celebrating reading at Pre-School, and want to focus on this rather than pressuring parents into buying dressing up outfits from supermarkets or Amazon. As we are continuing with our space theme this week, we will be holding a full Book Week the week after (commencing Monday 7th March). Again, children are welcome to come dressed up if they want to but please don't feel pressured to purchase a costume. What we would like is for the children to bring in a favourite storybook one day during book week to share with their friends (please write their name inside the front cover!).

-Sponsored Bunny Bounce Monday 28th March-Friday 1st April-
We're excited to announce that the Bunny Bounce will be happening again this year! For anyone who doesn't know this fantastic event - the children will be asked to perform as many bunny bounces, hops, and jumps as possible on our small trampoline. They will receive a special certificate and a prize to take home for participating! We ask that families and friends sponsor your child for taking part, with all monies being donated directly to our GoFundMe online (full details will be sent out nearer the time). We've even ordered a new small trampoline using fundraising monies so now the little bunnies will be bouncing even better than before!
Sponsorship letters will come home with your children in a few weeks time.
Easter Concert and Easter Egg Raffle - Thursday 7th April
We are pleased to invite you to attend the Pre-School Easter Concert on Thursday 7th April! We have sorely missed having families attend our concerts and are very much looking forward to everyone joining us on the last day of term. The concert will be held in the afternoon from 2.15pm for a 2.30pm start. We will aim to finish by 3.15pm at the latest. You are of course welcome to bring your child to the concert if they are not normally in session on Thursday afternoon. There will be tea, coffee, and cake on offer for a small donation to our fundraising. More details will be sent out nearer the time.

We will also be holding an in-person Easter egg raffle, and will be gladly accepting donations of Easter eggs for this in advance of the concert.
Fundraising Survey - Final chance!
The Fundraising Survey will be closing at the end of February! Don't miss out on your chance to have your say: https://forms.gle/nVVjNR6ksZXeRBTs8
Request: Important People Board
This term we would like to build a Family/Important People display for the children. We would love it if you can send in photographs of important people in your children's lives (family, friends, etc) to be put on the display. If you would rather, then these can be sent to us via email or uploaded to your child's First Steps account (Via your ParentLink app - click on 'learning journal' under your child's name and tap the green "+Add" button) to be printed off at Pre-School.
The display will give children opportunities to talk about the people that are important to them outside of Pre-School, and learn about what makes other people's families the same or different to their own.

Fee Payers
Finally, please ensure that when you pay any fees to the Pre-School bank account that you are using your child's surname as the reference. If you pay via a voucher scheme, please let us know by email at finance@breastonpreschool.com after you have made the payment. It takes up a vast amount of administrative time matching up payments to invoices and doing the above would help us to reduce this greatly. Thank you!

Take care,
Breaston Pre-School
