Foster Spotlight: Storm
Storm is such an easy-going, gentle, and teachable dog.  She loves cuddling and getting a good back-scratch. We tuck her in bed every night underneath her blanket.  She can see things that are within about 2 feet in front of her.  She has no problem navigating through the house and knows how to go out to the backyard and find her way back inside. Storm’s story is a bit of a miracle.  She was abandoned in the basement of a home when the residents were evicted.  She survived for 3 weeks until the landlord found her.  We don’t know how she managed to get through this time, but we are so glad she did! Storm has a spinal injury that makes her back legs very stiff but she has no trouble getting around, although she can be a little wobbly at times.  She walks like a crocodile!  The spinal injury does not cause her any discomfort or incontinence.  She is housebroken, but sometimes has accidents (urine only) in the house.

Meet Our Adoptables
Homeward Bound: Dexey (now Noel)
Dexey was adopted in November and her new mom wrote about her “Dexey (now "Noel") is wonderful! She is the world's best snuggler and cuddliest dog ever. Noel loves peanut butter, going for rides in the car -- especially if the trip involves a Starbucks puppuccino, and sleeping in her princess bed. She also has a sassy side. When she wakes up in the morning, she's so excited, her little tail goes wild, she nibbles on my feet, and makes rooster noises! Quite a silly goofball, she's really coming out of her shell and even though I believe this is her 10th placement/setting in her short two years, she seems to feel comfortable and right at home. I work from home so she gets a lot of attention and love 24/7. The neurological issues that make her "special" (the effects from her brain injury, circling, limp hind legs, visual impairment) don't affect her quality of life at all. She's a happy little girl and super smart. We're still working on pottying. Because of her medications, she goes to the bathroom more than 20 times a day. She knows to go outside and loves getting a treat for doing so, but it's hard to be perfect when you have to go that many times! Noel is a joy to be around and I ask her all the time how I got so lucky to have found her.

Where Are They Now?
Adoption Update: Layla (was Rosemary), from Layla’s adopter
“We adopted Lyla in 2017 and are coming up on our four year adoptiversary! Lyla is everything we needed and more. When we adopted her, our dog had lost his fur brothers and she came in and filled such an empty space in all our hearts. In 2020 we lost Lyla's brother and ended up adopting another blind pup. Lyla and her newest brother, Zev, are living life to the fullest. Lyla is a great big sister who loves to play but is always pushing for a cuddle and belly rub. Lyla has two human siblings now and is absolutely perfect with them! She can be mischievous and knows how to get into anything that smells good, even if it’s inside a zippered bag! We are so lucky to have her in our lives. She’s our angel.”
Lyla is the blonde girl on the left side of the picture.

Rainbow Bridge
BDRA adopters and volunteers recently said goodbye to these beloved dogs.
Timmy (was Timbre) was adopted in 2010 and his mom wrote about her boy when she let us know that Timmy had passed away, "I’m very sad to have to tell you that Timbre passed earlier this afternoon. I was here with him and he wasn’t alone. We knew that this time was coming but it’s so hard to say goodbye to our Tim. Thank you for bringing Timmy into our lives. I just came across the first series of emails between us from 2010. Knowing that Tim was pulled from a kill shelter and got to spend his life with us, growing with our boys, helps.”
Andrew was adopted in 2010.  He passed away recently and his mom wrote “We are really sad to share the passing of Andrew. We unexpectedly found through his annual blood work possible cancer. We made an appointment to have him checked out. They found a mass on his liver. In 2019 he had his spleen removed because of a mass. We decided not to make him go through another surgery like that. We miss him very much. His fur brother and sister miss him as well”.
