Message From the Director
Welcome to our Autumn PSRG update.

Much like this time last year, many of us are again returning to a version of post-Covid-19 normality in terms of office life, albeit with a little more Covid-19 lingering in the community than last year. Despite the challenges that Covid-19 has brought, we had an extremely productive year on the research front in 2021. Under the thoughtful stewardship of Professor Helen Dickinson, the PSRG has built a reputation for high quality research across a number of areas of interest to the public service and continues to succeed in securing and delivering exciting contract research projects.

In an excellent start to the year, we were are thrilled to see Helen Dickinson named as one of the top 100 most influential academics in Government! The first quarter of 2022 has also seen the publication of impactful research reports on the hybrid future of work and the implications of living with covid for the disability sector, as well as numerous articles in journals and media showcase topics ranging from various articles on hybrid work, working from home and what this means for workers, to public healthcare in Bhutan and Bougainville, links between extinctions and clearing approvals, wilderness forms and global environmental policy, navigating the NDIS, NDIS cuts and access issues, and the importance of scrutiny in the public service.

Following a very successful webinar with Associate Professor Sue Williamson on ‘the future of work is hybrid’, this week we look forward to Professor Satish Chand delving into the 2022 budget at in-person event on the Canberra Club on 6th April. Further details below if you have not yet registered.

We hope this is a useful insight into some of our more recent activities and as ever welcome you to get in touch if you want to find out any more about any of these activities or PSRG more generally.

Cheers,
Sharron

Director, Public Service Research Group (PSRG), UNSW Canberra
