Assessment weeks
Dear Parent/Carers,

Formal assessments: Monday 28 February to Friday 11 March 2022

Further to the letter I sent in November, I would just like to remind you that the second of our formal assessment points will take place from Monday 28 February until Friday 11 March 2022 and will involve students in Years 7 to 10 and Year 12 completing assessments in each subject area.  Year 11 and Year 13 students will sit formal mock examinations.

The dates for the final assessment point are:
  • Assessment point 3:  20 June 2022 to 30 June 2022
Each assessment series will enable us to have an up-to-date picture of how students are progressing and will enable us to identify where further support is required.  Students’ performance in assessments will inform decisions around setting and set changes will be made following each assessment series.

Academic reports produced after each round of assessments will enable parents to see how students have performed in their assessments, with the percentage achieved and their child’s ranking in the cohort.  We will no longer report estimated grades.  We will continue to report how students are performing generally, with their homework, behaviour and with their effort.  Reports will be available for parents to view, via the SIMS Parent App, at the end of the Easter and summer term.

In my previous letter, I also explained that we would be introducing parents’ events, to replace the old structure of parents’ evenings.  Regrettably, due to COVID restrictions, we had to cancel the December event but we are hoping that the Easter event will go ahead, as planned.  As a reminder: these events will take place during the school day and will enable parents to meet teachers, look at students’ work, as well as receive their child’s academic report.  We will send further information about these parents’ events in a few weeks’ time.

Thank you for all the support you have shown the College.  Please do not hesitate to contact me or any of your child’s subject teachers, if you have any further questions.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs D Stanton
Assistant Principal
