About College Decision Day

West Virginia’s College Decision Day initiative is part of a growing national effort to celebrate seniors for their postsecondary plans and assist them and their families in enrolling in and transitioning to college.

College Decision Day events recognize students who plan to pursue…

  • a two-year or four-year degree
  • a career or technical certificate
  • a workforce training program
  • military service

College Decision Day WV is one of College for West Virginia’s (CFWV’s) three statewide college-planning milestone events that, along with College Application and Exploration Week and statewide FAFSA completion events, help guide 12th grade students and their families in planning, applying, paying and enrolling in college.

High schools that participate in all three activities and complete the required post-event surveys will be recognized in Fall of 2022 as a CFWV Champion of College Access and Success.

How to participate

College Decision Day events must include two primary components:

  1. A celebration to recognize students who have chosen to pursue postsecondary education.
  2. A workshop or presentation to assist students in enrolling in and transitioning to college.

The event must occur sometime between April 1 and June 1. Event coordinators must also complete a brief online survey following their local event.

Schools that register by March 15, 2022 will receive a printed copy of the College Decision Day toolkit.
