Join us next week: Dinner at the Square with Arthur Brooks | March 8, 6:30 PM

Get your early-bird tickets by tomorrow to one of the happiest events in town! Register before March 3 to save $10! Next Tuesday, "happiness expert" Arthur Brooks will join us for our first Dinner at the Square of 2022.

If you'd like to get a sneak peek at the awesome insights you're in for next week, check out this conversation he had about his last bestseller "Love Your Enemies."

Brooks' most recent article, "How to Want Less," is the cover story of the March 2022 issue of The Atlantic. He takes a deep dive into one way we can be happier — by wanting less. He makes a compelling case that success is relative, and human beings crave satisfaction that we so rarely obtain yet seem to be always chasing. He gives us three concrete steps to want less and become happier.

Brooks is well known as a one-man beacon of inspiration toward both happiness and radical decency in politics and he's devoting the most recent chapter of his extraordinary career to discovering how to live our best lives.

Fresh off the release of his newest book, "From Strength to Strength: Finding Success, Happiness, and Deep Purpose in the Second Half of Life,” Brooks is making one of his first stops to see us. Facilitating the conversation is our longtime friend and owner of Midtown Reader, Sally Bradshaw.

From now until March 8, order your book from Midtown Reader here and save 10% on From Strength to Strength, and 15% on Love Your Enemies and The Conservative Heart, or plan to purchase one at the event.

A special thank-you to Florida TaxWatch and Americans for Prosperity for their generous sponsorship of this program.

Join us for our 15th Season of Dinner at the Square: "How We Get Our Groove Back"

Americans don’t agree on much these days, except that things really haven’t been going all that very well. Of course the consensus ends there, as fingers shaking with anger point in opposite directions to explain how in the world we got to this place so few of us enjoy. Our divisions have gotten the better of us and it’s not made us better human beings along the way — we’re isolated, angry, petulant and far surer of ourselves than we ever ought to be.

Join us for our 15th season of Dinner at the Square to explore "how we get our groove back." The season includes both Arthur Brooks on March 8 and Kurt Gray on May 10.

We say it’s time for a post(ish)-pandemic reset, a spring cleaning, a democratic spa retreat of sorts, a year of finding our way back to our better selves (and maybe even to each other) — a year to get our groove back.
This year, we’ll be talking about happiness (personal and societal) and how we might better pursue the truth in our habits and practices.

Get your Season Tickets while they're hot! Take advantage of the best discount pricing, and then you're all set for the season.

Democracy Reignited returns on March 31 When the Stars Begin to Fall: Overcoming Racism and Renewing the Promise of America

“We can be different and united—the value of the American experiment is contingent on the truth of this proposition.”

—Theodore Roosevelt Johnson III

Dr. Theodore R. Johnson sees both an American Promise “big enough for all of us,” and an existential threat if we cannot somehow find each other to live into it. And at a time when it’s easy to be overwhelmed and confused, he lights a path forward that we might travel together—with a wisdom and clarity that draws us in.

Join us as Dr. Johnson makes an invitation—and a challenge—to all of us, born of lived experience as a black son of the American south and love of this country he took an oath to preserve. Johnson is a military veteran who served as a White House Fellow and speechwriter to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He is currently a Senior Fellow and Director of the Fellows Program at the Brennan Center for Justice at the NYU School of Law. The conversation will be facilitated by Executive Director of Florida Humanities, Dr. Nashid Madyun.

His book is a revelation you will not soon forget.
