We hope the following events and opportunities help you and your class engage with our local environment and address some of the issues surrounding climate and biodiversity that are so important to your students.
City of Meadows
We've had a fantastic response to this project - with 35 schools keen on getting involved. It's time to start preparing the ground ready for sowing seed - we'll be posting updates, downloadable resources and 'how to' guides next week here

Schools MPs Q&A event returns
Following the success of last years online Schools Q&A with local MPs, we would like to invite all B&H secondary schools the chance to participate in a follow-up event on Friday 29th April 2022, 11am - 12pm.  The event will focus on what events and actions have taken place over the last 12 months, including COP26, and what hopes and asks students have for the next year.  Register your interest + find out more here.
Free Outdoor Learning Workshops and Training
Find details of our free Outdoor Learning training programme here.

Find out about visiting The Deneway woodland in Brighton with good sustainable transport links.
Liveable Neighbourhoods for Schools
Children in Brighton & Hove schools are being invited to design posters showing what their perfect street would look like. The best ones will be exhibited at Jubilee Library later in the year. The city will soon have its first liveable neighbourhood in Hanover and Tarner, which will aim to reduce through traffic and make the streets safer and more pleasant.
So we’re keen to see children’s ideas of what would make our streets more liveable for them.  You can find out more about last year’s exhibition here and download a lesson plan here
City Nature Challenge
Every year cities from all over the world compete in the City Nature Challenge to see which region can find the most species over 4 days. We'd love lots of B&H schools to survey their grounds and local greenspaces on 29th April 2022.

We're holding a short online introduction to the CNC on Thursday 31st March, 4:00-4:45pm, showing how easy it is for your school to get involved and how the iNaturalist app can help with recording and identifying finds.  Register here.
Fast Fashion webinar

Dancing with Worms
Local contemporary artist, Alicia Radage, would like to invite your school to participate in an exciting, free workshop about her work exploring the behaviour of worms and their importance in the ecosystem.
She will share her artwork and her findings about worms.  She will then lead a dance to summon up worms from under the ground.  She and the children will then sing to the worms that have arisen. Suitable for Year 4 + 5.  Email here. to express an interest.
