February is Black History Month – a great time to highlight the inventors, scientists, artists, thinkers, and activists that have been cornerstones of economic, social and cultural progress. February is also Black Futures Month, which showcases the current work and accomplishments of people of African descent, and their contributions to building a just, equitable and prosperous future.
To cap off Black Futures Month, we’re highlighting 23 of the Black community leaders based in the Vancouver area whose work we’ve been particularly inspired by. While these educators, entrepreneurs, visionaries, artists, planners and activists are making incredible impact in their respective fields – and beyond – they may still be less-known in the economic development ecosystem.
If you aren’t already following their work, we encourage you to do so!
