Attend the Feb. 23 Awards Ceremony at Blue Goose

Soroptimist International Loomis Basin club is investing over $9,000 in awards on February 23 to encourage women to continue their education, support teachers and recognize women making a difference. Please join us at the Blue Goose from 5:30 to 6:30 PM.

Save the Date - March 17

Once again, the club will be selling St. Patrick's Dinner To Go on Thursday, March 17. It will be all hands on deck that day as we make meals for the senior LIFE Center and hold the fundraiser in the late afternoon. Information is coming on how to sell tickets to your friends and sign up to volunteer. Thanks Cyndie for taking the lead on this!
Purse Event a Success

Despite COVID knocking out event chair, Chris Hebard-Summers, and other members, volunteers and guests, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the designer purse fundraiser on January 19.

"We found a way to make some money so we can continue to lift others at this year's 'It's in the Bag' purse event," said Chris. "Ashley, with the help of all our fantastic members, stepped up and pulled off another fabulous fundraiser; feedback from attendees has been extremely positive."

"We ended up with approximately 175 attendees and a profit of approximately $10,000; we had 10 table sponsors and one Platinum Sponsor -- Durk Family Farms that went above and beyond by donating some fantastic purses for a silent auction," said Chris.  "Thank you to all of the members who came through with gift cards for our 'Left-Right-Center' games and Peggy who once again shined with a scrumptious menu.  Shari Lynn coordinated our volunteer helpers from Koinonia and they made clean up a breeze. Thank you all for your contributions to making this another great event!"

The club can match you up with a roommate and the club uses the delegate fund to help defray some of the expenses. Rooms are $149 for Friday and Saturday; please make your hotel reservations now.

President Rae’s Message

When we think about this year’s theme “We Rise by Lifting Others” our minds focus on women that are in difficult situations.

But also consider how we rise as members by lifting each of us within the club.  Our “It’s in the Bag” event was a perfect example of this.  Everyone stepped up and made this very important fundraiser a success.

Presidency of this club is not a difficult challenge; it is Enlightening and Joyful.  Thank you all for making us Shine.

We Rise by Lifting Others,
Rae DeGabriele, SILB President

Help us Share our Story

At the past business meeting, members asked how they could help the club communication committee, chaired by Marilyn with Becky and Jenny doing social media, Alaire and Karen producing the newsletter, Toni creating our beautiful flyers, Sharon and Karen maintaining the website and others helping with photos. "Everyone can follow the club on Facebook and Instagram @SILoomis and comment on our posts," said Karen. "There are also roles such as writing up an article about your committee, taking photos, updating the website and online calendar (we can train you), posting articles on blog and helping create social media posts." Contact Karen to join this committee and help us tell our story.
