"BLIMEY"

Join Jim and Hilda Bloggs at their cottage in rural England. It's the 1980s and while there is a looming threat of nuclear war, the couple are hopelessly nostalgic for the London Blitz of WW II. Armed with government-issued Protect and Survive pamphlets, they construct a refuge with solid cheerfulness. Trusting in the powers that be, they emerge after the bombing and wait for government assistance.

You can see this touching and sarcastic tragic-comedy at the Venables Theatre starting April 22. While regular adult tickets are $22.50 in advance and $25 on the day of the show, you can get yours for only $19 per person if you act fast!

For a limited time (until midnight on Friday March 18) as a newsletter subscriber, you are invited to save 24% off the regular, day-of show adult ticket prices by using the Promo Code, BLIMEY when you purchase tickets online or through the Venables Theatre Box Office.

Purchase tickets online using the button, below. Or, if you prefer a personal touch, the Venables Theatre Box Office at 6100 Gala Street in Oliver is open to serve you Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. You can also purchase by phone during the same office hours by calling 250-498-1626. Just make sure you mention BLIMEY to get your discount.

Seeking Directors & Show Ideas

Each year we strive to stage three productions (Fall, Winter and Spring).

We are looking for past, current and future directors and producers to come forward with show ideas for our Fall and Spring shows next season. (The winter show will be The Black Bonspiel of Wullie MacCrimmon, postponed from earlier this year.) If you have a favourite play you want to see staged in the South Okanagan, why not consider directing or producing it? It's a great chance to revitalize your artistic juices!

Alternately, if you are interested in directing, but don't have your mind set on a specific play, let us know and perhaps we can explore some options together. If you have theatre experience but have not directed before, perhaps we can team you up with someone in our group be your mentor and assistant.

Once we have a draft list of plays and proponents, the final selection is up our Board of Directors. We look to having our season locked in and ready to announce in early May.

If you are interested please contact us by email at info@soplayers.ca.
