THE CSM STAFF ALUMNI NEWSLETTER

You can tell its March because the lake is still frozen even though we’ve had days in the 70’s already. At Camp, we’re looking forward to what is hopefully a “normal” summer. Lot’s of campers have already registered. In fact we’re almost at the number we had in total last summer. Guess it goes to show that kids need Camp more than ever.

ALUMNI HIGHLIGHTS/UPDATES

In this issue we shine our spotlight on our very own Fiona Willlis Sedlacek. West Irondequoit native, and long-time Custer, South Dakota resident, Fiona held Program Director, Day Camp Director and Summer Camp Director positions during her tenure at CSM. Her love of television production won out and Fiona has since spent 21 years at WXXI in Rochester, and 30 years as a national producer.

While you may recognize her as the Executive Producer of Second Opinion, currently in its eighteenth season with host Joan Lunden, Fiona has been working tirelessly on passions and passion projects. At the top of her passions list is her family – husband - Dan and her four children – Clara, Daniel, Cookie and Roland. Fiona’s latest passion project is her documentary film, Out in Rural America, shot over a six-year period, at times on her iPhone. While only 60 minutes, Out dives deeply into five stories from the LGBTQ+ community. Poignant and fiercely intimate, the film’s narrative is guided by Fiona’s characteristic empathy as well as her deep commitment to social justice. Most succinctly stated on the WOUB Public Media page, “It’s about love, acceptance and being true to self.” Thank you, Fiona, for your expert and heartfelt work near and far. We’re so proud to know you and call you friend.
