April 22 is Earth Day
April 22 is Earth Day and we can celebrate by reflecting on our fragile planet and our place on it. How can we each play a part to fight the climate emergency, protect the environment and create a sustainable future? Let us know how you want your library to support Climate Action in the community, and don't forget to check out these green books for younger kids and older kids.
Time for a Poetry Month Event!
April is many things including Poetry Month! In partnership with the League of Canadian Poets and the Arts Council of New Westminster, we present All Forms Now: Five Contemporary Poets  April 9, 1:30-3:00 in the Auditorium of the Main Branch. FREE, no registration required.

As a part of this event we've curated a selection of poetry for all ages. Check out:
Podcasting 101: a three evening event

In collaboration with the Arts Council of New Westminster we're offering a brand new, three-part series we’re calling Podcasting 101. Learn everything you need to know to get started with your own podcast, with lots of how-tos and a special Q&A event featuring a number of local podcasters, hosted by New Westminster's own JJ Lee. The series takes place over three evening sessions May 11, 18 and 25, 2022.

Hey Kids!  In-person programs are back

We're very happy to announce the return of in-person Storytime and Babytime! Join us downstairs in the Auditorium at the Main Branch on Tuesdays for Storytime (ages 2-5) and Wednesdays for Babytime (ages 0-24 months) from 10:30-11:00. Registration not required, but vaccine passports for adults 22 yrs and older will be required until provincial changes come into effect April 8, 2022.

One eRead Canada

Join with readers across Canada during the month of April to read Katherina Vermette's The Break. Unlimited copies of the ebook are available through the library, and a virtual book club on FaceBook and artist visit are all in the works! Read all the details here.

Work BC Employment Drop-In

Looking for work and need some resume editing, interview tips, or ideas of where to start your search? Come to our employment drop-in hosted by WorkBC on the third Wednesday of the month. Next one is Wednesday, April 20, 1-2:30 p.m. Registration not required. Just drop in to the Gallery Room on the second floor (Main Branch).

Great news. With the easing of restrictions recently announced we are gradually reintroducing in-person programs and services. Easter Weekend Hours:
NWPL will be closed for the Easter Weekend on Friday, April 15, Sunday, April 17, and Monday, April 18. We will be open on Saturday, April 16, 2022. Happy Easter!
