Briscoe Night of Artists

I love to head to San Antonio, Texas for the annual Briscoe Museum Night of Artists show.

The Briscoe Museum could not be in a better location. It’s right on the riverwalk with life-size statues lining the walkway to the entrance. They always have an amazing collection of art there, so even if you’re not buying, it’s a great place to visit and enjoy the art. This is the museum’s premier event of the year. It takes place March 25-26.

They have asked me to participate in a symposium/Q&A this year which will take place on Friday, March 26th at 1:00pm at the Westin Inn next door to the museum. I guess they figured that since I’m way out of practice on how to talk to people in real life since the Covid pandemic that they’d just throw me right into the figurative fire and really get me out of my comfort zone right away. Come join us if you’d like, but don’t laugh too much if I’m awkward and can’t remember how to speak haha

A Light to His People was a lot of fun to paint. You can see the wisdom in his eyes, the hard work that has weathered his hands and can sense the thoughtfulness he has had through his long life when you see the wrinkles of his face. Even though this man is smaller in stature than he was as a young Brave, he is full of wisdom and people still look up to him.

This painting measures 38 1/2 x 36 in. and will be available at the wall sale.

The rim-lit maiden sits on the rim of a canyon. I love to paint intense, strong women but I also like to paint these quiet, subdued moments. There is beauty in the simplicity of everyday. The juxtaposition of the abstracted canyon in the background next to the soft brushstrokes on the face and arms really bring this painting together.

This is a small painting measuring only 16 x 9 in., but it packs a whole bunch of vibrancy and life when you see it in real life. This one will also be available at the wall sale. I won’t have any pieces in the auction this year.
