“A kind word never broke anyone’s mouth.”
- Irish Leprechaun Saying
Greetings Laurel Hall Families,
First, and foremost, I would like to begin my weekly message by introducing our new Laurel Hall School Nurse, Natalie Santana. Natalie, a Registered Nurse, is a mother of two - a Laurel Hall Preschool student and a Laurel Hall “Big School” student. We are incredibly blessed to have such an accomplished professional, and such a wonderful and supportive LHS parent join our staff. WELCOME TO THE TEAM Natalie!
This is the month of March Madness - not college basketball, rather it is an eventful month packed with hornet buzz!
Friday, March 4th is high school admissions notification for most of our neighboring high schools. Early indications are very positive. We are already receiving word that several of our students have scored in the 90th percentile on high school entrance examinations.
We also begin the month of March in celebration of kindness. Thank you to the extraordinary members of our National Junior Honor Society who have taken lead on this very important mission. Kindness Week begins Monday, March 7th. Highlights include the buddy bench, kindness letters, “shine a light on kindness” and hallway random acts of kindness.
Next week also features our monthly PTO meeting (via Zoom). It is scheduled for Wednesday, March 9th at 6:00 p.m.
Friday the 11th, to cap off kindness week, we share our generosity by participating in the monthly Laurel Hall food drive.
On Sunday at 2:00 a.m., we spring ahead to daylight saving time. Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead one hour (lest we be tardy for school on Monday!) And, if you are too tired to cook dinner on Monday for losing an hour of sleep, make sure you visit MOD Pizza on Monday the 14th for the Laurel Hall MOD Pizza fund raiser. Don’t worry, you can participate even if you are well rested, too!
Monday the 14th is also the day the school indoor mask mandate is lifted. It is the day that we will all be able to breathe a little easier, so to speak. It is also a day that we should reflect and be very proud of what we have accomplished in navigating through the global pandemic. It has been a difficult job well done, by such a tremendously resilient community.
March madness continues with some luck of the Irish, as our Laurel Hall middle school musical production, Anything Goes, premiers on St. Patty’s Day, Thursday, March 17th. The play concludes on Saturday, March 19th with both a matinee and an evening performance.
Finally, we welcome the spring equinox on Sunday, March 20th. On that day, the countdown truly begins, and we realize that scarcely more than 50 days will be left of the 2021-2022 school year!
