The CSW is approaching with great strides and the preparations are very much ongoing.
The advantage of holding the conference virtually is that everyone can take part. Please register at NGO CSW Forum and visit the Parallel Events. As always, NGO CSW will provide tutorials to help you register and select the parallel events. You can also find these on our CSW website with step-by-step instructions from our webmaster.
Currently, you can also still buy ads in the NGO CSW Handbook for eye-catching publication of your Parallel Events or book exhibition space.
If you are interested in information about the Side Events, which will be exclusively virtual this year, please check the UNWomen website.
Based on the consultations of the CSW Bureau, the input of Member States and NGOs, a so-called zero version of an agreement has been published, which is now already under revision again by the Member States. We will keep you informed and publish all interim versions on the website.
You will find below the Parallel Events organised in the name of BPW International, a BPW Federation or a BPW Club. Put together your Parallel Events and register for the individual events. You will find highly exciting speeches, reports from the grassroots that reflect reality very impressively.
The Leaders' Summit, which has always been held for two days in New York in the run-up to the Commission on the Status of Women, will be replaced this year by monthly webinars of the International Executive, Standing Committees and Task Forces. In the first webinar, I will report in detail in English on the Conference on the Status of Women. The webinar will take place on 28 February 2022 at 4pm (Zurich time). On 29 March 2022 at 4pm (Zurich time), Vice President Membership, Dr Giuseppina Seidita, will address the topic of membership in BPW International (see BPW Topical below for more).

Annual Accounts 2021
The International Board has received the financial statement for 2021. The accounts are now with the auditor. As soon as the auditor sends us the approved accounts, they will be sent to the International Board. I will publish a report in the June newsletter which I hope will answer all your questions.

Dr. Giuseppina Seidita welcomed 5 new Individual Affiliate Members of BPW International in Mongolia at the beginning of the year. A warm welcome and much joy and success in working towards the goals of BPW International and New Actions through Cooperation. BPW Club Member
If you would like to become > a member of BPW, please contact the club closest to your home. The countries where there are clubs or federations are listed on the > World Map and on the > Country List. There you will also find contact details for the Club or Federation President and, if applicable, the website address where you can obtain information. As a club member you are automatically a member of BPW International. As a club member up to 35 years old you are automatically a member of Young BPW.

Does your country not yet have a BPW Club? Would you still like to become a member of BPW? Then BPW International offers you the category of Individual Affiliate Member.
Individual Affiliate Member
A business or professional woman residing in a country where there is no BPW Club may apply for this membership category and be accepted by the International Executive Board.
An Individual Member may receive information, news and official notices and may participate in all events, meetings and regional/international congresses, but shall not have a vote and shall not be eligible for executive election.
She will be encouraged and supported to establish an Affiliate Club in her country/city. Individual Affiliate Membership Fees are paid annually to BPW International.
Affiliate Club
An Affiliate Club is composed of 20 or more women who subscribe to the aims of BPW International, 75% of whom must be directly engaged in business or the professions.
The Affiliate Club takes the name of the city in which it is located. BPW International Membership Fees are paid annually at rates per member agreed by the International Congress.
National Federation
A National Federation is formed in a country where there are at least 3 BPW Clubs and a minimum of 100 members. There can only be one Affiliate Federation in any country.
The National Federation must undertake to fulfil its annual responsibilities to BPW International and its BPW Region, and accept the requirement for annual payment of BPW International and Regional Dues at a fixed rate per member.
Administrative Corner
At the beginning of the year there are often new elections in the clubs and federations. BPW International always relies on you to report changes immediately to the President's office. This enables the membership administration to keep a constantly updated list of members and their contact details; on the website the world map and the list of countries are updated 3 times a year, so the next update is at the end of April 2022. Thank you for your help in keeping this information as up to date as possible.
Advocacy - Equal Pay Day
These days, Equal Pay Days are held in many countries, organized by BPW Clubs and Federations. The BPW work for this is carried out regionally; BPW International has set up an Equal Pay Task Force since 2009, headed by Dr. Bettina Schleicher, BPW Germany, who deals with the Equal Pay Campaign of BPW International:
“The Equal Pay Day Taskforce has led the campaign launched by BPW International since 2009. The Taskforce has convinced numerous member countries to join the campaign and implement Equal Pay Days in their countries. Since the beginning of the campaign until now, more than 35 countries have introduced Equal Pay Day. Almost all member countries participate in the campaign. The campaign has become a global movement beyond BPW, with BPW leading the way.” (Dr. Bettina Schleicher, BPW International Task Force Chair Equal Pay.)
The work of BPW International EPD Campaign is still very relevant and so it continues. Equal Pay is also a goal and subject of the UN's SDG5.
Important achievements in your countries, which were initiated or promoted and realized through the EPD of BPW International, we will gladly publish on this page, indicating the BPW member to contact. Please publish EPD projects on the Project Platform with this registration form. We thank you for your tireless commitment to Equal Pay worldwide.

Earth Day Campaign 2022

BPW is stepping up to promote the message of sustainability and encourage individual responsibility and action in women everywhere. Through our networks, we will do our part to draw attention to the pressing issues of the planet, seek solutions by informing ourselves and examining our own contribution to environmental welfare, and invite women leaders and women everywhere to join us in making pledges of sustainability for the year ahead. Earth day is streamed all over the world through our FB and youtube channels.
The Earth Day Campaign is organised by the Working Group Green and Sustainable of BPW Europe and the BPW International Task Force Green and Sustainable with Chair Siiri Tiivits-Puttonen.

BPW Women's Debate Report
21-23 of January 2022
BPW International was asked to organise three parallel workshops on 21 January 2022 before a two-day debating event with students from international schools in China. The theme of the debate event was "Gender Equality and Women's and Children's Rights". BPW International proposed three topics: "Migration", which was chaired by NFBPWC Vice President Kathy Kelly, "Career Planning", which Standing Committee Chair Francesca Burack took on together with Lena Nicolaou, and "Effects of Covid-19 on Women and Girls", which was chaired by myself and Task Force Chair Dr Luisa Monini. 600 students registered, of which 170 were selected. A larger number would have been beyond the scope of one evening and two days. There were three very lively discussion rounds, which were carried by the great interest of the young people. All the students who spoke had an excellent command of English. It was a very positive experience for all of us and one that we will be very happy to repeat when the opportunity arises. Website
7th EU-Africa Summit in Brussels

BPW International was well represented at the Summit in Brussels: As President of the African Business Council, Dr Amany Asfour, Immediate Past International President 2017-2020, organised and moderated a High Level Panel on The Role of Europe Africa Partnerships for Empowering Private Sector including SMEs, Women, and Youth.
Dr Catherine Bosshart, BPW International President 20212024, was a panellist and gave a short presentation and participated in the discussion. She was able to emphasise the important role of BPW and partnerships for women, also in the private sector; she also highlighted the new bpw.directory, which can play an important role in building partnerships. The Regional Coordinator of Africa, Hadia Gondji, also participated in the panel and underlined the important role that partnerships have in empowering and supporting women and youth entrepreneurs.
