The year seems to be racing by and we have LOTS on the go at ADSA. WDSD is coming up and we have some Covid friendly ideas about how you can celebrate this special day for our community. Success in School course kicks off 2 weeks today via Zoom ... this is the perfect opportunity to enrol on this course. We're thrilled to be welcoming back face to face events from March for our Recreate Social Club, and our latest Community News is currently with the printer and will be winging its way to your letterbox in the next couple of weeks. Read on to catch up on the latest news.

World Down Syndrome Day 21 March

It’s exactly 1 month until World Down Syndrome Day is celebrated around the world and is a great opportunity to raise awareness within our local and international communities.  Sadly we won't be able to hold face to face events for WDSD, but we would love you to honour this day in your own way.  Of course, we have a few suggestions below for ways you and your whānau can mark the occasion...

#InclusionMeans: What does inclusion mean to you?

DS International via the WDSD website www.worlddownsyndromeday.org are challenging people around the world to share what inclusion means to them and their loved ones. “Together we can empower people around the world to advocate for full inclusion in society for people with Down syndrome and disabilities, and indeed for everyone”.  We would love you to share stories of inclusion with us – leading up to the day, and on the day – and of course photos as well.  If you feel comfortable, please also post on your own social media – using #InclusionMeans, and #WorldDownSyndromeDay hashtags.

Rock Your Socks

This will be familiar to many of you – and is a great way to celebrate diversity on or around Monday 21 March. Email Rosie adminsupport@adsa.org.nz if you would like an editable poster for your pre-school, daycare, school or workplace. This is a fun way to raise awareness of all diversity, not just Down syndrome – it can be a celebration or a fundraiser (we'd never discourage you from doing an ADSA fundraiser 😉). There is a "gold coin donation" version of the poster available too.  Whatever you get up to, we would LOVE to see photos.

Grab a bargin on t-shirts for the big day

We have a limited number of I AM ME and Downright Perfect t-shirts that would make an awesome addition to your World Down Syndrome Day wardrobe and are going for an absolute song. Email Rosie on adminsupport@adsa.org.nz with your size requests by Fri 4th March, for despatch the following week.

I AM ME tees – kids sizes 8, 10 & 12yrs – $10 per tee + postage
