Question:
"I have a question for you and by the way, congrats on your wonderful work, it is so very needed! I have heard that Humboldt County is pretty low on medical care and that many doctors have left the area. So, let's say folks move to your beautiful place, what do you offer them in terms of medical care, do you have a pipeline to that? We looked into one of the programs that offers medical care but you have to be Medi-Cal eligible and we are not eligible and would have to pay 90k a year in premiums, so we can't do that. We would love to hear your feedback".
Answer:
That is a frequently asked question! While we can't promise, we have a family practitioner who says she wants to start a home visit practice and be available to Life Care Humboldt residents. That would be ideal! We are also planning a tele-medicine center with video conferencing ability and assistance using the technology. We plan to offer care coordination to help people navigate the health care system, getting to the right provider in a timely fashion with all the information needed to give you the best care, and making sure the information gets back to your local provider. For the frail elderly, we plan to optimize home health services and support like the PACE model, the program run by Humboldt Senior Resource Center to keep people at home who would otherwise be in skilled nursing.
