Local elections on Thursday 5 May

This year’s Local Council Elections take place on Thursday 5 May 2022. Local elections are your chance to have your say about the issues that matter to you in your local area, and to choose who represents your immediate community. Everybody has a voice, and local elections are one of your best opportunities to make it count!
If you are not already registered to vote, you must do so by Thursday 14 April 2022 to vote in these elections. It takes less than five minutes! Register now.

Community Hub - Change in time for drop-in sessions
Residents seeking advice from Housing Landlord Services should be aware that the opening hours of the Future Workplace Community Hub drop-in sessions at the Hook Centre in Chessington have now changed.
The sessions were previously every Tuesday from 10am-12pm. This has now changed to every Thursday from 10am-1pm and 2pm-4pm.
The first of these sessions will be held on Thursday 3 March.

Disability Sports Day
Last week’s Disability Sports Day at Chessington Sports Centre was a fun-filled day with people taking part in all sorts of different free sports, including Wheelchair Tennis, Table Cricket and Disability Line Dancing. Return to play grants to help re-introduce people to physical activity after the pandemic
This grant aims to help clubs, community groups, and organisations to provide sport and physical activity whilst responding to the immediate challenge of returning to play in a coronavirus-safe way.

Covid-19 Changes: ‘Living with Covid’
The government has now announced the lifting of all remaining legal Covid restrictions from Thursday 24 February. Whilst it is positive that we are moving to the stage where we will live with Covid, it’s still a challenging time, and safe behaviours and taking personal responsibility can ensure the great progress we’ve made across Kingston during the pandemic is not undone.
Testing and self-isolation guidance remains until 1 April. The official recommendation is still to test regularly - especially before meeting those who are vulnerable - and anyone with symptoms should still get a PCR test. Anyone who tests positive is still advised to isolate for 5 full days and avoid contact with others, plus take a test on days 5 and 6.

We’re proud of the high levels of vaccination we’ve achieved across the borough, and of all of you, our residents who have rolled up your sleeves to protect yourselves and our community.
