Career Development / Hiring Events & Opportunities:

  • Attention technology students/community members! This Thursday, February 24, 11am-1pm, PVCC's Career Services Office is hosting a Computing / IT / Cyber Careers Expo in the Student Center. Learn about educational and career options as well as how hiring happens in this industry from a number of local employer and education partners. This informal career development event is open to all in the community (check out PVCC's Computing programs to learn more about our programs).    
  • PVCC has two employers on-campus this week:  Chesterfield Co. Police Dept. will be hosting a recruiting table TODAY in the Student Center on Monday, February 21, 10:30am-12:30pm and HCA Healthcare (Richmond area hospitals) wants to talk with graduating RNs on Tuesday, February 22, 11:30-12:30 in front of M259 in the Main Campus Building.  Chesterfield Co. Police Dept. recruits from all majors (no degree required!) with a starting salary of $45,500 which goes to $48,894 after training.   • Attention aspiring healthcare professionals:  PVCC is hosting a Health Sciences Programs Expo on Tuesday, February 22, 6-8pm, Bolick Student Center, Main Campus Building.  Learn about the curriculum, the admissions process and career opportunities offered in these fields and/or check out our programs online.  
  • Need financial aid for college? PVCC's Financial Aid Office is hosting a number of "Get Help with the FAFSA" workshops this week in Room M155 in the Main Campus Building: Tuesday, February 22, 8-10am, Wednesday, February 23, 5-7pm and Thursday, February 24, 12-2pm.  
  • Pepsi is hosting an Open House Hiring Event on Tuesday, February 22, 9-11am at 481 Hillsdale Dr.  Free swag and tour the bottling plant!  And/or apply online Current job openings include production, warehouse, and CDL drivers.
  • Virginia Career Works (VCW) hosts a weekly virtual job search prep workshop on Tuesdays, at 2pm. This week's topic on February 22 is Job Search Strategies. Registration required.  Their Thursday, February 24, 1pm, Employer of the Week, is UVA Temps Registration required. 
  • The VEC and VCW are co-hosting a Virtual "Live, Love & Work in VA" Job Fair for employers across the state on Thursday, February 24, 1-5pm.  Over 165 employers are participating (click on the date of the online calendar to see the list)!  Advance registration required.
  • Interested in living and working abroad?  Be sure to take advantage of PVCC's presentation by Jerry Howard, a recently retired U.S. diplomat who will speak about Foreign Service careers and internships on Wednesday, February 23, 12-1pm in M229 OR take advantage of it by zoom
  • Bon Secours Hospitals (in Richmond) invites upcoming and recent RN graduates to their New Grad RN Interview Summit on Wednesday, February 23, 12-7pm at the Richmond Marriott in Short Pump.  Registration required.
  • Coffeewood Correctional Center (near Culpeper) is hosting an onsite Job Fair on Saturday, February 26, 10am-2pm. They have a wide variety of openings including an Office Assistant ($23,727-37,014), Correctional Officer ($37,872-41,022), HVAC Installation & Repair Supervisor ($44,100-68,796), Dental Hygienist ($51,450-80,262) and more.

  • Chesterfield Co. Police Dept. is hiring Police Officers. Be sure to talk with Officer Paulie Malatesta in PVCC's Student Center on Monday, 2/21, 12-2pm about their hiring process and great benefits.
  • UVA Temps most recent featured jobs include part-time *and* full-time Access Associates ($15/hour), CNA/LPN/CMA ($15+/hour) and PRN Radiology Tech ($21-32/hour).  Be sure to talk with them at VCW's Employer of the Week on Thursday, 2/24 at 1pm.  Registration required.
  • Riverbend Kindercare on Pantops is hiring Teachers, Teacher Assistants and Floaters with a starting pay of $11-13/hour.

  • People Places seeks part-time Youth Mentors for youth ages 5-18 that usually involves 4-5 hours / week. They also have a part-time Family Mentor position. Scroll to the bottom of their careers page to see the Charlottesville openings.

  • Naborforce is a a company that provides light support and companionship to seniors. Naborforce provides help around the home (no housekeeping!), run errands, and drive and accompany their clients around town, as well as just provide companionship. $14/hour.
  • Virginia Veterinary Specialists has a number of openings including a Client Services Representative (CSR) that pays $15-20/hour, Scrub Assistant, Overnight Assistant, Surgery Assistant, etc. The CSR positions is full-time to work Monday-Friday, 11am-7pm with some Saturdays (floating rotation) required.
