Meet Our Panelists

Markus Fahrner is the curator / manager at the Port Moody Station Museum. He is an avid bibliophile who additionally creates art books and loves learning new book binding techniques. As a graphic designer and visual story teller he is always interested in new ways to present culture and history. This works really well in the museum especially as he is responsible for setting up exhibitions, designing didactic panels and running educational programs. His inner actor comes out during his trench tours which gives him the opportunity de-colonize and incorporate inclusive practices when sharing the past.
Miriam Hoolahan, MSc. is the Director of Communications at Community Ventures Society. Miriam has over 20 years experience in communications and marketing. From an academic perspective, Miriam has obtained her Honours Bachelor of Business Administration with a focus in Marketing from Wilfrid Laurier University, her Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing and completed her Masters of Science of Strategic Marketing from The University of Winchester, graduating with a Distinction. She manages CVS’ external and internal communications (including social media), member relations, fundraising, marketing of the CVS social enterprises and oversight of our web-based information systems.
Karla Verschoor (left) has been with Inclusion BC since 2006, when she joined the organization as a volunteer coordinator and staff support to the BC Self Advocacy Foundation. Over the years, Karla has worked in various leadership roles as an advocate, strategic planner and now as Executive Director.

Richard McDonald (right) is the President of the BC Self Advocacy Foundation. Richard has been advocating for the rights of people with disabilities to live in community for over forty years. Richard is a featured artist in the From The Inside/Out! exhibit and spoke at the demolition of Woodlands.
Linda King is the Executive Director at Community Ventures Society. Linda obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a Minor in Sociology through Simon Fraser University and has since been with CVS for 25 years. Before being promoted to the role of Executive Director, Linda was the Senior Director of Operations at CVS for many years.
In addition to Senior Director of Operations and Executive Director, Linda also worked at CVS as Adult Services Manager, Program Coordinator and front line staff. She is a strong advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities and is well respected by staff and in the community.
